I've only seen a few genuine lexus guibo tear, they generally perish and require replacement. Aftermarket is a different story.

Most likely, it makes the shift quite harsh. A proper transmission tuning kit is better

You don't need to. You can fit a transfer case directly behind the Century transmission using OEM parts. We've got a Toyota split Tcase behind one of those to go into an FJ45 👍
