I agree with this, on the whole; I tend to prefer using 'hybrid' routes whenever possible and using shuttles to fill the gaps in the city. There's no need to have a shuttle serving the stops the hybrid calls at unless it's very busy. One other thing I'd say is be careful not to place stops too close to a junction when the bus is turning left straight after. It will end up going around the houses to continue the route. Also, using bus lanes on trunk routes is absolutely essential and try to keep the bus stops on at least 4-lane roads unless it's a very quiet area. Personally I'd always like to have at least 1 or 2 tram routes running from one side of the city to the other and fill in buses around that to pick up the slack 👌🚌🚋

i usually have one point to point line and one circle line which goes in both directions, and it works pretty good

Thanks I’ve really enjoyed that. I learned a few things from it. I now use point to point now as I used to use one line to go through the town covering the 3 zones then reverse at the other end. I think I used too many stops and always had 3 or 4 stops from the rail station completely overcrowded and I couldn’t stop it as if I put more buses on they would be empty most of the time and I’d loose lots of money. What I do now is 2 routes one for residential and one fir commercial/industrial. This gets passengers from home to other cities fir shopping or work and back home again. The com/industrial line takes the visitors from other cities to where they want. It seems to balance better and I break even or make a profit. I liked the idea of using terminals at the turnaround point. I’ll use that Again thanks for doing the tutorial

if you play on hard and have your trains maintenance on at least high while you don't allow clogging on your stations (when there are more ppl on a station than an empty train can take) while also your routs consist of 4 stations at least - it is also impossible to make money on trains :D. Except cargo - cargo is very, very hard to mess, even on hard and even well maintained :) so I play on medium difficulty :D and yes, trams/busses are only profitable if you use loops (and even than it is only a possibility) or connect cities with them

You could still do a circular setup and create two routes. One that goes clockwise the second goes counter clockwise. Main issues solved and you could adjust the amount of buses if one direction needs less travelers. anyways good vid

Interesting. I did wonder about the section on train profitability. Was the most profitable route the city in the middle, connected by roads to the cities either side? Does this have an effect on the profits of the middle city?

If you build a road, will the AI eventually upgrade it and take ownership?

Yeah, unless you take ownership the AI will usually convert any roads close to towns to streets. Roads which aren't near towns won't be upgraded though. So if you want your road leading into a town to remain a high-speed country road it's best to take ownership, then the AI won't be able to alter it.
