The central problem here is Congress has long abdicated their role in deference to the Presidency. Case in point: look at how many wars we have been involved in the last 80 years. Per the Constitution, Congress has the sole power to declare war yet they have not done so since World War II. This is not just a problem of party. Both parties have, in the name of expediency, abdicated their role and responsibility in Congress. Sadly they may now be too weak and too irrelevant to take it back.

Breaking stuff is intentional. Many won't try to repair something that has been massively damaged and many will accept the destruction of something if it first is made to stop functioning. "Othering" people is intentional. That is the first step towards blaming them for all of the problems of the nation. Keeping the surfs kicking down so they don't think to punch up is one of the oldest tactics there ever was. Look up the "first they came for" thing from history and remember that it is a description of a play book. It isn't really specific to an era. I am sure that before one tribe of caveman slaughtered another tribe of caveman, they will have "othered" them.

The infrastructure freeze is bad for everyone, but maybe the silver lining of dropping the federal EV tax credit is that manufacturers will try competing to make an EV model that isnt so... extra. We've had enough cushy, tech-forward luxury vehicles and enormous trucks. Maybe now someone will try to make an EV cross-shoppable with a Honda Civic.

Given how cheap energy from renewables is to produce and deliver (on the whole), and how much emphasis there is in much of the rest of the world on green finance, deployment, & the eventual lowering of the cost of manufacturing, service, hospitality, food and other sectors as a result of clean, cheap, abundant energy, the US economy could find itself not only being left behind, but seriously uncompetitive to boot. The cost of energy is one of the fundamental underpinnings of doing business in every sector I can think of, including, ironically, the oil and gas sectors.

We're going to see a similar volume of illegal orders and lawsuits against them, and given how much more aggressive he's being, I wouldn't be surprised if he loses even more. So much of what he's trying is so blatantly illegal. But, will it matter? He's also learned that he can largely just ignore judgments against him. All of the legal avenues of restraint, have largely been neutered, with politicians and the judiciary alike saying "we can't prosecute the guy, you'll have to impeach him". And impeachment it clearly not going to happen any time soon. So, yeah...I'm glad to see the fight back, but I'm not terribly optimistic about the outcome. :(

But if you have enough money and power, you definitely _do_ get to force your will onto others. We're seeing that play out right now. Fact is, T---- barely won the election. Counter-majoritarian structures in the US electoral system allowed his party to also control the Senate and House of Representatives. With the power they've now obtained, they are working quickly to force their will on the country even though the majority do not agree with them. If it weren't so awful and tragic, I would be laughing my head off at all the people who voted for the guy, and now are shocked that he's doing the best to make their lives miserable, along with everyone else's. But I just feel sad for them, because they were lied to and didn't have the good sense to recognize that they were being lied to, and voted in a liar who never had any intention of carrying out any of the positive things he claimed he would do, and had every intention of carrying out all the negative things he claimed he would *not* do.
