I came to this party late, first hearing TVV in 2004 on the Little Steven's Underground Garage show called 1958. I was listening at work. In the middle of the 1st set Baby I Don't Care comes on. I heard Wendy's wonderful scream and I was hooked. Before the song went maybe a few seconds, I stopped work and looked at the play list. I HAD TO KNOW WHO THAT WAS. Needless to say I became a fan which I still am today. I remember an officemate who sat at the desk next to me would complain because I'd be playing that song too loud. Thing is, he was hearing it through my head phones. Yes, this group was WAY underrated and should have been much bigger.

This band could have been MEGA if the bloody accountants who ran MCA records hadn’t pulled the plug. Acts such as Genesis, Pink Floyd and David Bowie wouldn’t have made it if they hadn’t been supported by their record companies in the early days. Such short term thinking deprives us of some great music that we will never hear. I saw Wendy and the boys play at The Marquee Club in the early days and after they had made it at Cambridge Corn Exchange. Wendy was really into her music and a great singer and stage performer.

Tension within the band and corporate & day to day pressures made the band split up. A weaker, less well produced 3rd album with few " Rockers " on it didnt help either, the 3rd album was softer and way more mellow. A great shame they split up when they did, so many bands could split but dont, they find a way, but TV didnt get past this issue and went their separate ways. I like some of the songs on the 3rd album, its still a good album but MCA was nervous in releasing it in the UK etc and was released in Australia/New Zealand where they were very popular. A disappointing end to a brilliant band !

Transvision Vamp - they were great while it lasted. The band came apart pretty spectacularly, but they had half a dozen great singles, and I snogged Wendy James in 1988, so obviously I have fond memories!
