I can't help but feel like the only way Jasper could ever deal with the idea of PTSD is by learning to associate it with instinct.

I really like the moments where Pearl is very tender and docile with Jasper. I think the part where Jasper’s in a panicked state because of the corrupted gem and Pearl alerting Jasper about where she is and where she’s approaching from as to not further Jasper’s anxiety really struck something with me. She calculates the situation at hand and gently lets Jasper know that she has nothing to be worried about. You don’t really see this sorta emotionally calculated side of Pearl so often so I’m glad we get to see her this way here.

yknow, if you did the math right, a lot of jasper's behavior can be explained by the fact that, gem-etically speaking, she's probably seen as a teenager. jasper was born shortly before amethyst was. way after pearl was, as well as ruby, sapphire, rose/pd, etc. so her big, brutish behavior? she's a teenager. and a very traumatized one at that. and the fact that she has a "decorated war history" at her relatively young age is just...sad. it's like approaching a teenager and saying, "well, you have a decorated military history". do the math. that meant she was a child soldier. her relationship with lapis? her trying out relationships for the first time, as many teenagers do. and it going horribly wrong. it also makes sense in the middle of the video. with jasper essentially saying something along the lines of "YoU dOn'T uNdErStAnD" to pearl, whom she would KNOW from the war is still significantly older than she is. like a teenager saying to a parental figure, "YoU dOn'T uNdErStAnD" and that parental figure going like..."uh, yeah i do lol".
