As an aerospace nerd- canards suck for stability. Their big claim to fame is that they are a more efficient way of lift generation, as rear mounted horizontal stabilizers usually generate negative lift, canards generate positive lift. However, they tend to be extremely unstable and simply aren’t great at radar cross section reduction. They make excellent sense for a fourth gen aircraft- it will be more maneuverable and able to climb more rapidly. They make terrible sense on a 5th gen style, where your primary goal is stealth, as you are generally increasing your frontal cross section and potentially your horizontal cross section as well
@h.a.9880
@h.a.9880 5 ай бұрын
So is it fair to assume that it does make sense on the Eurofighter, given that it doesn't want to be stealthy?

As far as the stability goes, Thats a feature of design not of the part themselves. Take the F16 for example, It was designed to require the Horizontal Stabilizers to generate lift instead of using said lift to make the aircraft fly level, Where as the typical design(as you mentioned) has the Stabs use lift to fly level. The F16 was intentionally designed in this way to allow for better maneuverability. What im getting at here is, it doesnt matter what the typical design calls for with canards/horizontal Stabilizers, it matters how the engineers designed them to function, as evidenced by the F16 an intentionally being designed as "Unstable". Final note, cause itll bug me if i dont. Aerospace deals with the engineering of flight in space. You should have used Aeronautical instead, which deals with engineering of flight in atmosphere. Was my major before i dropped out and went back into IT(Aerospace Engineering that is)

Hell, in some homophobic US states, I promise you there are still plenty of married "straight" men who say they are going out with buddies for a drink (which might be true) but end up with their end-up. Source: Trust me bro. No. Seriously. Just trust me. I'll spare you my long inventory of proof. So in the muslim world .. Uhhhh.... Yeah. Storm chaser here; the April 26 tornado event was a fucking miracle. On that day, we had numerous mile wide tornados and one possible two miler, several EF4, possibly EF5, strength tornados, many of which hit cities (Omaha, Nebraska caught two). Zero deaths. One severe injury. I expected a double digit death count (I was watching on radar as I was unable to chase that day). April 27 had a lot less tornados and those that did touch down were weaker, but they occurred at night and were a lot more rain wrapped (thanks low level jet) and thus was a lot less of a miracle and is the reason Oklahoma is currently in a state of emergency

@@madisonhasson8981 had 2 forming near bossier city La thankfully nether made it to the ground, still the winds at the head of that storm last night where nasty, and we only got grazed by it, bless the hearts of anyone filling it head on.

Friday was probably one of the biggest nights I regret not taking time off to chase, those were some beautiful storms.
