I recognized Susan and the Wolfdog. I have a 4 disc National Geographic set she as well as Heimo are featured in. It is called Braving Alaska I believe. It showed several bush families. The other discs are about the bears of AK and the oil industry.

Thanks for the great stories. The pic of the wolf dog and girl is amazing. I used to know some old trappers now they are long gone. When I'm hunting I still find some traps they left behind swing in the wind and think of them in that moment. I always leave them to save the history. I feel like the old Alaska is slipping away and the only place you can find it is to get as far away from Anchorage/Wasilla as possible. Lower48 attitudes and problems in a simple place. Lower48ers are never happy unless they pave over all the wild places and build a Starbucks/Walmart every 200 feet.

Interesting. There are hundreds of millions of "lower 48ers". That’s far too many of "us" to generalize that we all want to "pave paradise" and build a Walmart or Starbucks. If I never sáw those places again, in addition to so many others, I’d be happy! And guess where I’m from? Freakin’ San Diego!! Haha 😂. You know, supposedly "America’s Finest" city? Well, that’s not true… luckily, we’re not all yuppies and sellouts in the lower 48, just because we’re not lucky enough to live in AK! I thought it was expensive here in California. Turns out Alaska, and Hawaii too, is much worse… but you love it and you’re there, making it, so lucky you. But there are plenty of people down here who attempt to put a stop to the paving of wild places, believe me. If it weren’t for all of us down here, many things wouldn’t happen.

FANTASTIC video, thank you for sharing. Tough as nails to trap those areas and temperatures. I to am a trapper but not tough enough to go out at -47. Thanks again for the insight to their lives.

I found your video very interesting . My father and I drove up to Circle in the spring of 1969. Stopped in at Miller's Road house for breakfast and to replace a broken truck wheel. It's very interesting to see how much change has happened in the area since then. Thank you for the superb video and the wealth of information.

@ We trapped beaver, fox, mink and muskrats mostly, lynx were very scarce around our way in the 70’s and 80’s but my father did catch few in his younger days in the 40’s and 50’s. Cheers
