I have a lot of traps, but have never used them. What precautions should I take to make sure I don't get a neighbor's pet, or is that just part of the risk. I have lots of coyotes, etc and will be getting sheep or goats soon. I need to thin them down if I can. Also, would making sets along my fence line be a good way to go? Your videos are very helpful. thanks

Thanks for the kind words, to answer your question is not an easy answer, It is more or less yes and no. If you are trapping on your homestead you have to look at it as your neighbor "pets" were trespassing. I hate to say it but if they can't keep their dog/cat on their land it is not your fault if you catch it. If you are over run with coyotes or foxes or bobcats. the sets that you make and the bait and lure you use will be geared at catching K9 and cats. So your neighbor's dog will be attracted to it. The best thing to do is go and tell your neighbor that you are getting ready to set TRAPS to catch the coyotes and that Coyotes are k 9's and that the lure that you use will also attract their dog. Explain to them that their dog would have to be close enough to smell it, (around a couple 100 ft) ( unless you use a long distance call) .and just tell them that you don't want to catch their dog so please keep it up. Then it is out of your hands. The owner of the dog/cat has to take responsibility of that animal. I have a neighbor that has two dogs that he lets run and he has told me that if I catch his dogs messing with my livestock to shot them. So if you are up front with them most neighbors will understand. We are getting ready to do some videos on trapping foxes, coyotes and so on. I hope that you will watch them and that they will help you out. Thanks for watching.
