Where I live , not in the can, won't pick up......

Thankfully our policy is if it isn't in the bin it doesn't be lifted. All the operators run with the same rule so threatening to go to a competitor holds no sway . Just makes it so much easier .

Weird video to get recommended but some interesting economic insight

I'm still figuring out what kind of long form I want to make. It's been experimentation for awhile. Shorts and reels have done well time-to-time thogh.

Do you maintain (wash&grease it) yourself??
@mikesullivan72242 күн бұрын
How often?

Owner likes to wash trucks himself. I grease weekly. Book says daily but that was excessive

i only put my trash/recycling out if its full, if its not ill wait to put it out until it is. I dont want to waste their time for 1 bag of trash

For recycling that makes sense, but even 1 bag of trash in the summer sitting out for two weeks...no thank you.

Our County uses Waste Management and if its not in the bin it wont be taken, On top of that if you put anything on top of the can or the cans lid not shut all the way due to overflow garbage they won't take it either.

I think mine is a little more lenient, but in the town right next to us, if there's trash outside of the bin or if the bin's lid can't/isn't closed fully, they give you a fine. There's a city vehicle driving behind them to write them out. (There's some shady tactics behind the way they do it, but that's a different issue and longer conversation.)

Our policy is up to 10 large items can be outside of the can *every trash day.* It's very nice being able to put out old mattresses, stoves, couches, etc. whenever I want.

Is it city provided or a private hauler?

City provided

That is pretty nice. In my town, we can only put 1 item too large for the bin at the curb. Anything else requires a call-ahead appointment, including specific trash types like appliances, lawn care rubbish, or demolition/remodeling debris.

Its different in different places my old house it was a small town with there own trash service and dump they would actually get your garbage cans from wherever you kept them I had them in the backyard some of my neighbors kept them in ther garage and gave the town the code to the garage. My new house they will only take stuff in a can up to ten cans included. Then my parents have a house in a different state where it has to be in a can and it must be in a bag max of one can

Unrelated to the video, but still a trash question. I have a friend who is disabled and pays extra for the trashman to come get her cart from up by the house. Problem is at minimum once a month they just skip her house. This has been going on for a few years now. She calls and things may get better for a few weeks, then it happens again. Any tips on how to get them to more consistently get her cart? The town contracts with one of the big national companies and between her and the kids (who have the same genetic condition) they pretty much fill the cart each week. Thanks

I HIGHLY recommend moving the cart to a visible spot, as from what it seems like is the occasional skip may be a new driver or a sub driver who doesn't know the neighborhood.

Also I recommend making a sign that states "walk up service house" in the companies colors with their logo. Do you mind letting me know what company it is as well? I may be able to assist 10x more.
