You handled that like a man. Don't let some mouthy grumpy Gus ruin your race or your video. I hope that guy can get back on the right track, if he isn't having fun riding bikes and is cussing out random riders, he may need to reevaluate his choice of recreational activities.

That guy should definitely be reported to race officials and USA Cycling. Only the lesion team is allowed to blurt out stupid obscenities in races.

Did you realize they took the results from when you thought it was 1 to go? Those people sprinting on the left were the break lapping the field. Nobody realized it until the end.

Really?? 🤯 but they rang the bell for us at 1 to go

@@ClaudioMarquezseveral of my friends were in that race with you and were confused. the rule is everyone finishes on the same lap. at the point the break passed you the whole group finished on that lap.

Yea, there was no way to tell while we were in the race. From what I can tell from your video I think you were still about 5th. Good work.

9:48 I think that's where you could've made a crucial move. The guy with number 325 makes a huge attack there. Your HR is a bit higher, but far from max, there is still something for the final effort. You're right on his wheel. The field has just accelerated and it is going really fast, but since you're quite far back and not a pure sprinter, there is no possibility other than fight for this 20-30 place, right?. However, if you decided to follow the 325 guy, you would've gotten a great opportunity to overtake some people. Of course that would've been a huge effort, but since it is the last lap, what else is left to do? Just empty the tank. If you watch what happens after 325's attack, you can see that he not only overtakes the whole field, but also manages to hold the lead and crosses the line first, in front of the whole peleton. Hats off to this epic move, a true beast!

Well done Claudio. You should report that guy to the race organisers. How are you getting on with a cycling coach? A video about how the coaching/training is going would be interesting.

I was there that day. You can see me on the first corner. I wish I knew you were racing. I did see you walking around with a very beautiful lady though!

Nice job! However, your advice to 'trust' the rider in front of you in corners is not good. Hold your line in the corner, but always expect the ride in front could pull some boneheaded move at any time and be prepared to take evasive action!

I don't think he was freaked out, I think he just had road rage, looks like he has impulse control.

I began bike racing in 1976 with the CRCA club in Central Park. I then joined USCF as a cat 4 and raced in New Jersey, upstate NY and a race in Pennsylvania. I stopped racing I think in 1980. I got the bug again when I was 30 but only for one season. I started again in 2001 or so and stopped in 2006 after a bad crash injured my spine. I raced Floyd Bennett and the races were furious due to it being an airstrip and we averaged near 30 MPH. I still ride the same roads I trained on and average between 30 to 80 miles upstate New York and New Jersey. How do you train for your races as it appears you are always in form?@@ClaudioMarquez

5 days isn't enough to put a dent in the thin air. At 2 weeks you'll be pretty acclimated and fully at 3 weeks. One trick a lot of the riders do is show up the day before, zero acclimation. Something about that works better than hanging there for a week.
