Crazy to think that when I first started playing I was too scared to play dps or tank and mained mercy and NEVER typed or turned my mic on because I was TERRIFIED of grown men yelling at me and now like 3 years later I main tank and healer and also occasionally play dps and literally chase people into their dms when they decide to trash talk me. Like how the times have changed. Nothing annoys me more than when ppl wait till the end of the match and trash talk in type chat so u don’t have enough time to type back. I got banned from comns for chasing a hog into his dms cus he called healing trash (so many flankers and no help) and he REFUSED to reply like an ACTUAL coward. Honestly, you won't know which one is best to use until you actually use them. But a good character to start with would be healers like Lucio or Moira or Mercy. The reason why I picked all supports is because you can play passively with them and learn the rules of the game before trying more aggressive characters. If you're more familiar with the rules, you can Branch out to some of the tanks and DPS like Reinhard Reaper Tracer or Soldier. Honestly, once you actually get the game it's best to go into the training range and try out every character until you find one that you actually feel comfortable with.

There are counter picks to Genji in every role. There are counter picks in every role in general. Zarya is a great counter to Genji. Winston, Brig, Moira. Give the DPS the option to push their front line and make payload progress rather then focusing on a flanking Genji or Tracer. Or any Flanker. Supports can switch to help. Tanks can switch to help. And double shield was 100% useless in that game. ☺️
