The most under rated band to come out of Scotland in the last 20 years, superb stuff !

The voice is sublime. It's like he's telling a story, talking to you. There's no attempt at dramatic effects. Just a gentle and soothing voice. Some singers kill a song by oversinging it. For me there's no question that this is by far the best of the 3 I've heard so far.

Beautiful song. I saw this band back in the 80's, they supported Prefab Sprout (another incredible band) I was blown away by how great they were.

Simply put : this song is a gem! It is performed with such genuine feeling and warmth. No exaggeration here! Now I have to purchase the CD and put it in repeat mode as I drive. I can't stop listening to it.

What a song ! John Douglas is such a great writer and I've only just discovered him after going to Eddi Reader's gig the other night. And those Readers - I love them.

This song is stunning! Wish I had discovered it when it was first released. What a beautiful film score it would make! I wonder what the reference to “ The armour is heavy now” refers to?

Great version of a beautiful song. I wonder if there are arguments in the Reader household as to whose version is best. I prefer this one to Eddi's

Its close, I very well could be wrong, eddi definitely sounds better on her album version. I think she changes it slighty when she sings it live. And she has been more in demand recently on all sorts of TV and rallys. " brilliant version none the less.

+Derek P It's not a great version Derek - it is the original. The song is by the Trash Can Sinatras' John Douglas
