I purchased this old mid-century buffet or partial hutch for $25. It had been painted yellow by the previous owner. In this video, I will remove the old paint with the carbide scraper, detailed scrapers, and dental tools. I enjoy sharing my furniture restoration journey, and whether it's a full restoration or just a refinishing, I trust you will enjoy what I have to share. Thank you for all your support. Barry

A great big thank you for the referral to Birch Living. I've wanted a new mattress for a long time, but couldn't find anything that match the quality of what I had. Waving hi from far north side Milwaukee County. 👋🏻👋🏻 Grew up in the 1950s-1960s with a carpenter/wood working dad who had a rather large workshop in our basement. Thanks for bringing back memories. That turned out really nice.🤗👍

I love this piece and of course you refinished it to perfection. I have a vintage Duncan Fife dining room table and a Duncan Fife sofa that I inherited from my grandmother. This buffet looks like the same era…so maybe it’s a Duncan Fife style? In any case you definitely gave it back it’s dignity. Before it looked like it had been hit by a school bus.

Excellent work! First, the Hinges are Stanley Sweetheart marked, which dates them from 1920-1935. . Next, the wood is NOT Walnut. It is Cuban Mahogany. Very rare, and now practically extinct. These types of beautiful Mahogany pieces are the special targets of the Shabby Chic Bitches and their paintbrushes! Thank you for saving this piece and restoring it to it's former glory.

I love your dedication to your craft. I also enjoy seeing all of your vintage items - the 195Os fridge, the antique fan, the vintage electronics. If I visited, I could spend hours admiring everything. It's great that you use it instead of it just sitting around collecting dust. Things really were made to last "back in the day"! Question - what is the Art Deco candelabra looking thing to the right of your antique fan? I've never seen anything quite like it before. I guess it's an early electric lamp?

I am watching this video with great interest. It makes my heart happy to see you restore this gorgeous piece. I have two pieces of cherrywood furniture that were my grandmas that match this style so closely - a rectangular china closet, and a leather topped lamp table. I bought a rounded corner china closet 30 years ago that matches. My sister has the matching buffet. Then shazam! I found a desk this week on the side of the road that matches them! It with three leatger panels on the top with gold filigree around the edges.

Hi Barry. Good to see you’re still at it. I wonder how your shop stall is going. (I don’t do instagram or Facebook etc.) Well, I hope. I love to watch you and listen to you as you work on these fine restorations! You can turn a piece of rubbish into a work of art! So refreshing to see old pieces renewed to perfection! I recognised Forrest Gump straight off! It’s my favourite movie! Sorry, but I was too busy watching you to find the little brass figurine. I kinda think that, with all your followers, you will not need to worry about your bills now. Good on ya! You’re the best wood craftsmen out there! And you’ve proved it again with this piece. See you again soon. ❤️🦘

I'm pleased to see you selected the deeper color gel coat stain and shellac finish. It's a gorgeous classic look for the bookmatched walnut veneers. How fortunate that all of the hardware was still present when you acquired that buffet. I look forward to seeing the out of state project, and the Barbie dresser 🤩. Steven Miller
