GOT goes so deep so it makes sense if you’re just watching the show with your brain off and not putting the pieces together. I had friends who literally couldn’t tell any character difference from the early seasons. Or how people just abandoned their entire goal / growth for legit no reason. The reason the show is bad is for the points I mentioned ^ the action, battles, cinematography are all great. So if your brain is off you’re just enjoying the hype and battles (which are good)

I'm American and I studied abroad in London in May - June of 2022. Unfortunately I also got covid there and had to quarantine for 14 days in a Travelodge. British cable/reality TV basically got me through quarantine with my sanity at least partially intact lol! Hearing Connor and Garnt discuss all these British tv shows from Connor's 3x3 is kinda surreal to me because after coming back to the US, it was pretty clear to me that very few people had heard of shows like Peepshow or Come Dine With Me. i also loved 'the good place'. i don't tend to watch american shows, but my therapist recommended it so i gave it a chance. the show itself was far more profound than i first took it for, and the finale was incredibly thoughtful and touching. i cried too. solid show.
