Perhaps the 'shell' or 'kelipa', is our exiled state,, that is now our soul is covered (in clothing) it is exiled from its former 'naked' state, the state where Adam and Eve could know each other wholly without limitation, and see only goodness and divine light of the soul.. now that the soul is 'covered' by the garment (or Kelipa) we no longer are able to see a persons pure light soul, and only see the outward flesh . and from this perspective we are essentially exiled from Eden, we are exiled from ourselves and each other due to the covering of our pure light souls.. redemption is coming out of the shell and entering into the eternal light through the wisdom of Kabbalah
