Hey Guys,
Travel with us from Udon Thani to Chiang Mai on an overnight sleeper bus.
The bus left around 9pm and we arrived in Chiang Mai 12.5 hours later at 9:30am.
Overall the trip was not the best but we made do.
As always, thanks heaps for watching & we will see you in the next video where we'll be walking around Chiang Mai old town.

Sure was! But now we all know for next time 😂 Not planned at all, but not a bad outcome haha! I’ll take one for her next time I swear! Got plenty of rest in the last week. Needed it though in this state of emergency we’ve been breathing! But onto Bangkok today for some clearer skies and to get absolutely drenched! Thanks again for the coffees too! I'm glad to hear that you got safely at your destination. Thai's love paper work and say one thing on the mobile but it's another when you check in, you have tickets yes on the mobile phone no you need paper tickets okay how much 20 bahts okay no worries. That's Thailand for you guys, I know when I when I applied for my retirement visa we went to immigration office and my jawline drop so fast before I can catch it, what I saw was tables with paperwork stacked up on every table going to my disbelief. I would take a rain check not to travel on this coach due to no very comfortable I rather drive and do a stop over before finishing the journey, which I will do.Anyway, guys enjoy C.Mai.

Oh don't they! I remember you telling us all about the mountains of paperwork at immigration. Not sure in this day and age why you would put yourself through that... but they must have a reason, hopefully a logical one at least. Would not recommend when you have your blessed motor to take you from A to B!

the 6 seats downstairs are the ones to get if they are available, so much more comfortable, having done upstairs and down. Enjoy chiang mai guy's, great place.

the VIP bus I caught to HUA HIN was heaps of room , big leather chairs , but Fuckin' COLD you need a pair of jeans , socks and a real good jacket/jumper or both as they won't turn the air con down !!! and a BEANIE !! I've only flown to Udon Thani so don't know if the have the VIP bus

Yay. Voice over Sarah was great. I understand not liking the sound of your own voice. It took me a long time to stop freaking out over it. You did amazing. I love that you started the video watching a dodgey livestream amd then had a couple of dodgey folks bothering you. Not a great way to start the trip. Haha From the other comments it seems that if i go this route, the 6 seats at the bottom are the way to go. Great and informative video and thanks for sharing.

Great video - i dont want to say i told you so but I will 😂 on the live stream I said book VIP seats - they are the 6 comfy seats downstairs lol. Also top tip when booking bus seats 1st class is not VIP. I've done the 12 hour bus a few times but avoid where possible lol

Hahaha well you did tell us & we 100% should have listened 😂 We know now for next time, lesson learned 555. It’s unfortunate there weren’t any flights & vip was booked out at the time but we got there in the end 😂🇹🇭🤍

I absolutely hate long bus trips. Wrecks you for a few days. Too bad about not being able to drink beers on the bus. Early check in is a plus. Wile six nights isn't long - it is by Chiang Mai standards - I stayed there 10 days last year, and people were amazed that I stayed that long - I really liked it and got into the swing of it. Garden and outdoor area looks cool. Bus hint like train hint dont sleep on the upper bunk - I get the sways.

It did for us for sure! You live and you learn, wasn’t a big deal. Place was lovely to stay at, very peaceful in a busy city. We had 6 nights and was good to just relax some days while we were there. Needed some downtime. We are catching a train tonight so we will keep that info in mind! Thank you! 🙏😊

Thanks for another interesting video. Can I ask how your luggage is holding up with all this travelling? Would be interested in the makes and sizes you have and any suggestions on things that are good or may have chosen differently now you have been travelling a while. Thanks.

No worries! Thanks for watching. Luggage is all going pretty well. Big bags have had no issues. Got them from strandbags in Aus. Sarah’s is a brand they make, was about $200 AUD. Francs big one is a high sierra, was about $280 AUD. Backpacks; Sarah’s got a cheap one from Big W. Not the best and we will upgrade when we find a good one and we can be bothered. Francs is a an antler and was about $200 AUD. It’s excellent, can be used as a small suitcase with compartments, only issue though was one strap started tearing, but Sarah sewed it up. The bags we have are good for the prices we paid. If we had more money would have probably gotten a more expensive backpack each, just for the extra support they would offer when we’re lugging them around. But other than that, we’re pretty content with them. If you’d like more in depth info you can email.

Moaning about Printing the Ticket, OMG, such experienced Travellers, you need to always carry Cash with you also in Thailand , your phone or Cards are not widely accepted once you go out of Towns and cities.

Cost of flights to CNX kinda depends on how many bags you got with you.

Baggage, budget & we would have had to Fly from Udon Thani to Bangkok then Bangkok to Chiang Mai as there weren’t any flights from UT to CM unfortunately. 🥲🥲

@@francandsarah You can fly direct between Udon Thani & Hat Yai on Monday, Wednesday & Friday with Lion Air. Air Asia have daily direct flights between Udon Thani & Phuket. There used to be a daily direct flight with Air Asia to U-Tapao (Pattaya) & that is supposed to be coming back. Thailand is building 7 new regional airports (3 of them are going to be in Isaan) & one airport in each region is being expanded to be a hub for the region except for Isaan which is about a third of Thailand land mass & population so it is getting 2. Udon Thani airport for North Isaan & Buriram for South Isaan. Then of course you got the speed railway & even were they not building it they are changing the single track to double track & putting in modern signal systems. If you ever wondered what the loops are they hand over & pick up at railway stations it’s the TYER’S ELECTRONIC TABLET SYSTEM & if you look it up on YT all will be explained. So things are changing.
