Black bags/cases heat up in sunlight and cook guitars, so the bag that comes with it is a bit dumb. I painted a hard case white when I went hitchhiking around NZ and my guitar was cool the whole time through Summer. It's something to think of. Nice playing.

Yes and no. Sooooo many gig bags are black and I never had a problem. Heat itself (not forced by fire or so) does pretty much nothing. It's the humidity where you have to keep an eye on. And I'm not carrying the guitar just in it's bag...I've got 2 waterproof layers around to make sure moist doesn't get in. ;)

You are a really good musician man! Considering this guitar for travelling. Did you change anything on the guitar or is it like it was deliverd.? Compared to other videos it looks darker (any polish?) and sounds warmer to my ears (other strings?). Thank you

Mine is already aged a little maybe and the strings in this particular video are probably 10 months old :D yet they are elixir stings and nope, I didnt change anything on it :)

Sorry, I have another question: what chord (progression) do you play in the part around 4:30 min. Sounds great
@MONKEYON2WHEELS
@MONKEYON2WHEELS Жыл бұрын
its: gm6 II D7/A II D#7/B II D7/A... if you read this like tabs (left low E - right high E) gm6 : 3x23xx D7/A: 5x45xx D#7/B: 6x56xx basically the same shape just moved up but in two different functions...the first chord an m6 chord but if you move it up 2 frets it becomes its major-dominant7 chord with the fifth in the bass :) hope that helps

How does the guitar plays after a few years, no problems with it yet ?
@MONKEYON2WHEELS

I have carried for about 25000km on the back of my bike and it’s still performing awesome. I caused a little crack but this was only because I once tied it down with too much force…basically my own fault. Got it fixed by a luthier and it wasn’t an issue anymore after that. Once I had a lot of rain for a few days and the water worked its way through the rain covers that I had made and the guitar got fairly wet. As a result the wood was swelling up a little which caused the neck to have a little different angle and that created a buzz for a few days but once it was dry again it went back to normal. So basically it survived a lot of different climates and bumpy roads but nothing really affected it. It still sounds and plays great and never seizes to impress other musicians when they give it a try. I honestly really love that guitar for traveling. So it’s definitely something I would recommend if you are considering getting one.

@MONKEYON2WHEELS
@MONKEYON2WHEELS 4 жыл бұрын
Puhhh I'm not really into electric guitars that I have no clue what to recommend. But why do you wanna take an electric guitar on a bike tour? An acoustic would be kinda lighter and you don't need an amplifier to hear something ;)

cool video! im thinking of getting one with a built in LR bags pickup for next years (hopefully) travels. You definitely know what your doing on a guitar, would you consider this a gig-able guitar/professional instrument? I appreciate its a small body and I need to keep my expectations in check, but id love to get an opinion of someone who owns one.
@MONKEYON2WHEELS
@MONKEYON2WHEELS 4 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, I'd actually say that it sound plugged in even more like a proper full size guitar. Acoustic only its missing due to its smaller body a little bass but plugged in that disadvantage disappears ;) perfect for folk, singing along or playing with others. maybe less of a professional choice if you're into fingerstyle...which still works but I'd prefer to have more volume in low frequences for this and the body won't produce a nice "kick drum" if you're playing a precussive style.

@@MONKEYON2WHEELS Awesome thanks for the quick response man! I do play a lot of finger style for fun but my gigs tend to be the usual singer-songwriter / pop / rock stuff. I had bought the Journey first class overhead but it turns out the case is actually too big to fit... in an overhead compartment... makes sense eh :S

I am curious and not totally sure about carrying a guitar on long distance trips. How many times do you actually get to play? Imho not that many. You ride all day and get tired when you finally pitch your tent. And many times you are stealth camping and don’t want people to hear you. Then with busking...the purchase power goes down once you bikebout of europe and get to Asia. Just wondering. Of the 300 days you biked ... how many days have you played?
@MONKEYON2WHEELS
@MONKEYON2WHEELS 5 жыл бұрын
Good question. I'd say I play at least 2x a week mandolin because its easier to access. The guitar maybe 2-3x a month. But I'm creating the music for my episodes with this guitar so I'm kinda playing then 1-2 days extra intense but then for recording purposes. I'm considering to do the next leg with just the mandolin. Just need to figure out how to keep using my own music for the episodes then. So the mandolin is definitely worth to take it with me but the guitar is probably because I used to play everyday for years...so it stucks in my brain that I need it ;)

The soundtrack will definitely change if you limit instrumentation to the mandolin. You’ll need the guitar or need to recruit local musicians along the way. I hope you med-treatment was successful and you’re on the mend.
@MONKEYON2WHEELS
@MONKEYON2WHEELS 5 жыл бұрын
Right! No guitar would be a disaster for creating music. I thought last weeks/months about the pros and cons and decided to keep them both with me. No med-treat required... It disappeared by itself :D

I really need a multi piece guitar like this. This one is way overpriced and sounds just ok. The journey is priced right but does not appear to be handmade. It looks odd and extremely cheaply made. Guess a travel guitar will have to wait until someone makes a good one
@MONKEYON2WHEELS
@MONKEYON2WHEELS 3 жыл бұрын
I actually think the Furch sound more than just ok. I've got plenty buskers/musician friend and the are all impressed by the sound. Of course it doesn't have that deep bass of a dreadnought but I reckon thats technically pretty much impossible due to the small body size. But yeah its not a cheap guitar but IMHO worth the money if you travel a lot ;)

Why would you buy this guitar directly from the manufacturer? Unless its a super high end guitar I would ask the manufacturer for shipping. I think they get a lot of mails every day and aren't capable of answering them all. Don't know but there are plenty websites selling this one.
