Thanks for watching! Have you had any issues with travel nurse companies?

Yea at Aya the recruiters suck like you were saying they don't contact you for days you can't get ahold of them. 2nd I've worked with AMN to and I realized real quickly that they are one of the lowest paying agencies out there and I know! Watching this video is giving me more confirmation that I need to go ahead and start that business. Thank you for the motivation!

Hi, I am currently about to be a new radiologic technologist graduate and plan on being a travel X-ray tech in my near future. I would like to pursue independent work, so I wondering if your “independent nursing program” would also work for me, even though I am not a nurse? Really hope you see this and reply back!! Been watching you for about 2years now!

Hey there! Curious if I would be able to connect with you to discuss my current nursing entrepreneurship venture. I’ve made some steps in the right direction but I just have questions and I’m hoping you may be able to assist.

Aya just became the MSP for one of the largest hospital systems in GA. They immediately dropped rates to pre Covid rates. 😐

The online fights I’ve gotten into with nurses when I say this exact thing. Some people will fight for their recruiters even if they are getting screwed. Recruiters ghost you and I’ve worked with 4 of them. They only talk to you if you are late with re-certifications. You are doing all the work as far as getting all your tests and paperwork to them. And the only thing they do is connect you to the hospital. You are 100% right. Yet I’m just gonna complain about it because I’m not a financial genius and I don’t want the irs coming for my ass later so I’ll just take the shit they dish out. This should be my last year as a nurse anyways. I’m leaving nursing as soon as I buy a house. Done with bedside.

Noooooo, Leave the bedside but don't stop being an RN. You can do other things.

This explains why travel assignment pay outs have been on the decline despite the fact that Omnicron has increased cases drastically. The travel agencies have become the very evil they sought to destroy.

@@CrosbyTheNomadNurse how does that work? I thought we didn't qualify for independent contractor status in the hospital because the hospital can tell us when to work and direct how we work.

Can you make a video about a nurse entrepreneur creating a retirement package? It’s one of the things holding me back especially with a toddler, one on the way, and a husband with several health issues.
@TrolleyTroubles105272 жыл бұрын
Can you make video about how one goes about cutting out the middle man, and contacting the hospitals to deal with them directly?
@smilinjoe232 жыл бұрын
Thats why most hospital work directly with nurses and form their own travel divisions. One example will be trinity health first choice. Ive no issues working with them so far.

I love my travel agency! It's wayyyy better than working on the hospital staff. I'm glad we both benefit.

This makes so much more sense why I'm getting screwed and the answers they give me aren't making any sense. They refuse to increase my housing but would make my hourly outrageously high and I didn't understand why when the other travelers made double in housing and still a high hourly.

For a new traveler, would you suggest going with a company for your first assignment and then strike out on your own after that? Or is it feasible - as someone who has never traveled as a nurse previously - to establish themselves as an independent traveler? Thank you for your informative videos!
@CrosbyTheNomadNurse2 жыл бұрын
It depends on the individual, but if it’s your first, you may want to get an assignment under your belt if you’re not comfortable
@lori59462 жыл бұрын
How much does Nomad take ? I work with a small Travel company and when I get assignments they have to go through another company. Does that mean they get some of my money too ? No transparency.

Do you think a lactation consultant could be independent? Becoming a LC is my end game, it's kind of interesting to think about being an LC independently, however how would that work with insurance companies and such?
@Afro-Capitalist2 жыл бұрын
This a dark way of looking at this. This is the wrong way to apporch this. I belive in competition not demonization. coming from staff to travel I am extremely grateful. If agency is only giving us 40 percent what the hell staff is giving us after they've made money off our back. I think there is levels to this. now the next step is to create a process that eliminates more and give us more of the percentage. However don't demonize progress but make it better.

There are smaller nursing agencies that handle everything and they do not use a vendor management system. Maybe you should make a specific post about your complaints on larger travel nurse companies vs. smaller companies. My company takes a much lesser percentage than you discuss and all of our employees have my personal cell phone number. Our benefits are rock solid too! Comparing real estate to healthcare staffing is comparing apples to oranges. Once someone sells a house, they no longer have transactions with the real estate company. Employees of healthcare staffing companies have transactions throughout their entire employment. I am all for people starting their own business, but not everyone wants that. I respect your opinion, but you are lumping the entire industry into the same category and that is rather unfortunate.

Fact check - AMN is a publicly traded company. 1. You can find their financials online. They do not take 40% of your money. 2. They have a legal obligation to earn money for their investors. So you can buy AMN stock and be the investor I worked for AMN during the pandemic, and I paid nurses between $5k - $12k per week. How much did you pay nurses during the pandemic? I left the company for other reasons. But who is to say that "recruiters dont care about you"? Some recruiters are former RNs. How does one reconcile that statement? Why do large hospital systems work with companies like this instead of working directly with the nurse? Well, many big organizations would prefer to pay 1 bill for staffing. Working directly with nurses may save on the bill rate, but the long-term expenses may not prove to be profitable for the hospital. I have no intention to change your opinion here. I doubt that I could. But to misrepresent the facts is not fair to the humans that work at AMN, or the nurses that are doing research to make a decision. I would be happy to jump on a call with you and discuss details. If I was a nurse, I would be independent like you suggest. But I would only go that route because of the 12+ years of knowledge and experience I gained from working in this space.
