"look for grocery stores under things" is such a fascinating tip

Cool travelog. Always fun to see what foreigners find interesting here in Norway. I enjoy museums as well, but I'm probably not at your level, haha.

I worked for many years at the Holocaust Center, just a stone's throw from the Viking Ships Museum. In my opinion, you missed out by not trying the brunost (brown cheese), it's one of my favourite things from Norway.

Domkirke is roughly pronounced "dome sheerka" the "sh" is between a sh and h in English. Your mouth is closed more than an h but your tongue doesn't touch the roof of your mouth like with sh in English.

It's almost embarrassing travelling to Norway as a German - Not only do they speak perfect english, maaaaany Norwegians ALSO speak fluent german.. (and switch as soon as they figure you're from down here). It's amazing.

Oslo is rather boring and not so pretty part of Norway, you would experience more if you would visit any other bigger town and above all mountains. Its that nature that is above average, Oslo is just typical Scandinavian...

I would love to see more of Norway, but my travel is almost 100% dictated by conference and training schedules!

@@cppweekly I totally undustand, but the trick is to combine it with some weekend and or take 2-3 days off and make a trip north. The shape of mountains In northern Norway are so unique - that the only comparable is maybe in Patagonia. They look like from another planet! If you would be lucky with the weather - its one in a lifetime experience. Its 100% worth taking a side trip through Bodo or Tromso. Or if a person really needs to stay in Oslo area - go to Sandefjord and make a kayak trip to one of those islands archipelagos. Stunning crystal clear water on sunny days. Oslo is nice, convenient, but also... generic scandinavian.
