Xi'an (Chinese: 西安; pinyin: Xī'ān; Wade-Giles: Hsi-An) is the capital city of Shaanxi Province, China. It is a prefecture-level city. Xi'an is one of the four ancient capitals of China, and was the capital of 13 dynasties, including the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties. Xi'an is also the eastern terminus of the legendary Silk Road. The city has a history of over 3,100 years, and was known at that time as Chang'an or Chang'an (traditional Chinese: 長安; simplified Chinese: 长安; pinyin: Cháng'ān; meaning "eternal peace"). Xi'an is the largest and most developed city in the Northwest region and one of the largest cities in China.

The Xi'an Bell Tower (simplified Chinese: 西安钟楼; traditional Chinese: 西安鐘樓; pinyin: Xī'ān Zhōnglóu), built in 1384 during the early Ming Dynasty, is the symbol of the city of Xi'an and one of the greatest structures of its kind in China. The bell tower also houses several large bronze bells from the Tang Dynasty. The base of the tower is square and covers an area of 1,377 m2 (14,820 sq ft). The tower is a brick and wood structure, nearly 40 m (130 ft) high. It is located in the center of Xi'an, at the intersection of four streets, east, west, south, and north. It is the largest and best preserved of the many bell towers that have survived from Chinese history.

The Drum Tower of Xi'an (Chinese: 西安鼓楼), located in the center of Xi'an, the capital of Shaanxi Province, Northwest China, is a symbol of the city along with the Bell Tower. Built in 1380 during the early Ming Dynasty (Hongwu period), the tower towers over the city center and offers stunning views of Xi'an.
