Well done! But you missed Pernil (Pur-neel) Sandwich in casa Guedes, Praça dos Poveiros. Also, in the same place, Queijo (Kay-ju) da Serra Sandwich. Best bifana is in front of Campanhã train station in a place called Astro. If you are short on money you can ask for just a sauce sandwich. In Porto you must also try Filetes de Polvo (octopus) in a restaurant called Aleixo with the octopus rice, also near Campanhã and, last, but not the least: tripes... Ando go to Mercearia das Flores in rua das Flores to take a look (and taste) at Portugal's best produces. Enjoy

Lets agree to disagree . It all depends on the tastes . Everyone has diferent tastes . I personally ate both of the Astro and Congo Bifanas , and for me , Congo´s until now has the best Bifana of Porto .

@@FilipePT25 João, you are right. Last time I went to Casa Guedes it was not the same. I assumed it was an accident. Filipe, you are probably right also, but I saw in Astro a unique "sande de molho". A sandwich with only sauce. I don't know if Congo do the same. But, next time in Porto I will go there, sure.

That's what I came here to say!! How dare you say Caldo Verde has chicken stock?! Also, Caldo Verde without chouriço is just a normal, bland soup - if you're vegan or vegetarian just pick something else!
@iamabitterperson

Knorr/Maggi. A lot of restaurants love it and they put on everything, even soup. It might have chicken broth and it might have chouriço on the pot. Even if people order without chouriço, doesn't mean is chouriço free. Some restaurants do that, some restaurants don't do that. I have seen it.

I love you guys!!!! But please, stop calling francesinha a Sandwich. I know it has bread but it's a main course in a plate like any other. Not a snack.😉☺️

We used to have a Portugese teacher at our school and so many of these foods she would bring into the staffroom. Her Pastel de Nata was legendary, and I remember the fish (Pastel de Bacalhau) very fondly. The Francesinhas she only brought in the once (I think it was too faffy for everyone to put together) in our short lunch times, but Emma, I'm with you on the sauce being amazing! I've had a right old trip down memory lane watching this - so sad that another school promoted her 😔 I'm been umming and aaahing whether to suggest this - it comes from a loving and caring place... but have you thought about filming the food tastings across several days so you don't stuff yourself so much all on one day. Then putting it into 1 video?

Aw that's so cool that you recognised so much of the food! Unfortunately due to our schedule we were only in Porto for a very short time but, ideally, we'd love to film over a number of days 😊

The taste of the hot dog comes mainly from the cumin in the sausage. The sausages are produced by a specific butcher called Leandro that has a shop in Bulhão market.

Are you still in Portugal or did you high tail it back? Can't believe those prices, one can't even get a supermarket pre packed sandwich here for under €2.50, even a single Espresso is nudging €3.00. Lunch in a pub, the total with a couple of pints almost €20 per person No wonder the ex bought an house there. Marrying a Portuguese man probably helped (hubby 4).

Pastéis de Nata at 1€ is way too expensive. I live 30kms from Porto and here in my town a Pastel de Nata is around 0,60€, also Caldo Verde in my town is 1,50€, Bifana no pão is 80 cents more cheaper than Porto.

Advice to foreigners - "Caldo Verde" soup is usually cooked with chorizo, they might just "fish it out" at the end for you. If you are vegetarian, need halal food, never ask for this soup. Most of the other veggie soups are just veggies, "caldo Verde" being an exception. Also beware that we mix meats a lot, so we would have chicken + pork or bee+pork in many dishes (and you have to specifically ask - does it have ham, bacon, lard? - bc if you just say "porc", they'll say it's pork free...

Where were you British people been all over the years passing down here..? Only now praising portuguese food..? I've seen over the years and decades you only in Algarve eating fish and cheaps...The smell in same places that you have ocuppie, like Oura and Albufeira is a terrific smell coming out of lousy pubs.. For that particular place never more in my life.. Years ago in Lisboa saw English tourists eating eggs and French fries with lots of ketchup, don't care about the list, fish, sardines, soups etc... You're joking, just can be.. In England I only eat pie, some bad meat or Italian . Nothing to eat.. This video only show pure ignorance.. And this is a great country in respect about gastronomy, but very cheap and I think that more than half of portuguese population own restaurants and coffee shops with workers and serving at the tables.. No companies, no investment, no industry, no qualifications and the poorest country in Europe... In the last five years tourism increases about 500 %... I'm tired of them.. We need a 100 quality of them, not 1000 junk tourists.. Last Saturday go for a walk down by the river and saw a few of English, French and Brasilian tourists... No MASK and they look like Beggars...!!! We don't want this anymore, this is the kind of tourists that most of European country's don't want..! Only restaurants owners do... They grew up like mushrooms... 98 % horrible food... But tourists say that was wonderful and get robbery on prices..
