· Travelers Rest has a rich history dating back to its origins as a rest stop for travelers in the 19th century, and today, it boasts a tight-knit community with friendly residents and numerous community events throughout the year.
· Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the abundance of recreational activities, including hiking and biking trails in the nearby Blue Ridge Mountains, such as the Swamp Rabbit Trail and Paris Mountain State Park.
· The town also offers a vibrant culinary scene with local restaurants, cafes, and breweries, making it a foodie's paradise.
· Hungry? Travelers Rest has you covered with a vibrant dining scene. From Southern classics to international flavors, there's something for every palate. Be sure to check out local favorites like Chicora Alley, Tandem Creperie, and Topsoil Kitchen & Market. Trust me, your taste buds are in for a treat!
· Chicora Alley Fire House is more than the largest bar in Travelers Rest, it’s also a coffee shop featuring house-made pastries, a laid-back local hangout, a place to grab a great bite for dinner and a coveted rest stop for bikers passing through on the beautiful Swamp Rabbit Trail. My favorite time to stop by is for lunch and the pimento cheese appetizer with street tacos is my favorite. Don’t forget a pastry! I missed them on my first visit, and won’t ever make that mistake again.
· Tandem Creperie and Coffeehouse is a fun place for crepes and coffee. This place is so fun! Order your crepes and coffee out at the yellow vw bus and then pick up your order inside. Don’t worry if the line is long when you get there, this place is the chick-fil-a of coffeehouses. They are efficient and so so good! You have your choice of sweet or savory crepes. My favorite savory crepe is the lumberjack and for the sweet, give the blueberry cream is so good!
· Finally, give Topsoil Kitchen & Market a try. I have to be honest here, I haven’t been able to get into Topsoil yet. They have limited hours and are only open Thursday - Sunday and reservations are highly recommended. This is a farm to table restaurant and every meal is carefully prepared with ingredients from their nearby 16-acre farm. They serve dinner Thursday-Saturday from 5-9 and brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 10-2, with a Sunday Chef tasting experience offering two seating options at 5:30 or 7pm. I’ve heard so many great things about Topsoil, go try it out and tell me what you think! Maybe I’ll see you there!

Take a hike along the Swamp Rabbit Trail, enjoy a picnic at Trailblazer Park, or explore the wonders of Paris Mountain State Park.
