Am 28 now & want to take a solo trip to Korea in late 2024 & I've never been out of the USA & hopefully a spent a whole week there 😊
@humblymai Жыл бұрын
I did my first solo trip to Korea last year for a while month as well. All the things you've experienced on the first day were a repeat of what I went through myself. After the first two days, you'll be fine, navigate using Naver maps, and if you're feeling down, take a trip down to Haeundae Beach, Busan.
@meagandelrose Жыл бұрын
It’s like you already know my next vlog & itinerary… cause Busan is literally next after first 3 days lol 😂 Thanks so much for sharing your experience & watching! ❤
@zoesimien4649 Жыл бұрын
We'll be hitting Busan on the 7th! You got this, keep going, head up, and I'll support you with positive energy from whatever-other-area we'll be in here in Korea lol
@humblymai Жыл бұрын
@meagandelrose looks like from your second video. You were there late September, I was actually in Korea for a solo trip again this past October 20 - 27th to celebrate my one year trip. We could've met up at a cafe and then hung out at the Hangang river.
@zoesimien4649 Жыл бұрын
@humblymai oooooohhh thanks for pointing that out, I was wondering when this was filmed. That would have been cool for ya'll to have crossed paths or met up!
@humblymai Жыл бұрын
@zoesimien4649 You'll have lots of fun in Busan. My recommendation for transportation is definitely utilizing the bus over the metro, Busan metro can be a bit more confusing compared to Seoul.

What a great travel vlog! I had the exact same existential crisis sitting on the long train ride from Incheon to Hongdae last week, my first time ever in Asia, totally alone and more jet lagged than I've ever been. It was more terrifying than the first time I left the country a decade ago at 19. Not sure why Korea felt so intimidating those first few days but now I love it.
@meagandelrose Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! And yes I can totally relate 😂 It definitely feels intimidating at first, especially if it’s your first time in Asia and don’t know the language. But people from Korea and around have been so helpful and kind! Thank you so much for watching this first vlog ❤ I hope you have a wonderful time on your solo trip!!
@khaleemaalkainaat81787 ай бұрын
I feel the same! I left my country to study abroad having never been out of the country before. Now a decade later, I get so nervous thinking about being in a different country alone. Crazy how reality catches up with us the older we get leading to a bit more worry our younger carefree selves were not concerned with

its actually illegal to record peoples faces without consent in Korea (an absolutely beautiful law imho) so that may be why people are staring as they see the camera as an invasion on their privacy!
@meagandelrose11 ай бұрын
Hi! Yes I also feel uncomfortable filming other faces without consent. That is why I went to a corner to film that part 😊 Since I just got off the plane, the people staring are actually more foreigners. I noticed Korean people just smile at me when I am filming myself. Thank you for your note & for watching the vlog! ❤

omg the subway with all those bags 😭 there's a bus service from the airport to different landmarks in seoul. affordable and no hassle, i've never done the arex ever since the limousine bus. also, love the insight about how traveling alone magnifies your problems instead of making them go away. but really, i just had to embrace it. i've been traveling solo since 17, but there's something about being in my 20s that made solo traveling more of a time to breathe and sit with my thoughts. really glad i came across this vlog, and to one of my favorite places to travel to as well :'-) so excited for the rest of ur trip! really love your vlogging style, it's like if a journal was in video format ??? LOVE LOVE LOVE
@meagandelrose11 ай бұрын
Thank you for the tip! I think I just got a little too excited to take the Subway 😂 it actually wasn't that bad until my very last station when I couldn't find anymore stairs or escalators lol... will likely take car next time from airport. Yes definitely agree with embracing the discomfort! That is so awesome that you've been able to solo travel since 17. I hope you gain even stronger insights solo traveling in your 20s. Hopefully more money to spend when you're older too hehe 😎 Thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to watch my vlog. Means the world!💕

Randomly stumbled upon your video thanks to YT's algorithm. Just wanted to say how much I appreciate the realness of your vlog (which also has just the right amount of humor) as well as your self-awareness and maturity. Totally made me nostalgic of my many trips to Seoul (often solo) during the previous pre-pandemic decade. Since this video was posted over a month ago, I assume you have already figured out that seats on the subway like the yellow one you sat in @6:43 are reserved for pregnant ladies, the elderly, and handicapped folks. But since you were traveling with multiple pieces of luggage, it looks like the locals gave you a pass thankfully (no bombastic side eye as far as I could tell). And yes, kudos to you for vlogging while traveling solo in a new country where you aren't fluent in the language!

Just came across your vlog (not sure how), but just wanted to say you're doing amazing and thanks for sharing. I've been travelling solo for the past 20 years, spent months in the US, South East Asia and across Europe and it's by far the best experiences I've ever had and it teaches you how strong you are. I realised after a while that 99% of my fears were just inside my head. Remember the greatest experiences in life happen outside of your comfort zone. Stay safe, have an amazing journey, make unforgettable memories and don't be afraid to try new things! Wishing you all the very best, I'll be following for sure! ❤

Transfer at Taiwan from US to Korea??? Hmmm. Well, it's sure was a long slingshot! BTW, I live at Gangnam and work near the place ur staying(Seolleung Station). I always try to take the airport limousine bus when it's possible. Reason, the seats are way more comfy and I don't have to carry my luggage rolling a long way on the streets. [Airport limousine bus - taxi] is my solution. Although it takes more time and money than airport express subway.😊

Next thing is that I'm also very close with my parents and I think they're more afraid than me 😂

6:41 TIP for ppl traveling to korea you have to follow simple rules like the seat she is sitting on is for elderly, pregnant, disabled, injured
@meagandelrose11 ай бұрын
Hi! Thank you for watching and thank you for this note. I am fully aware that this seat is reserved for elderly, pregnant, disabled, injured etc & like any public transportation - I will move right away if there is someone is in need of the seat more than me, no matter how many bags I am carrying. For context, this day was during Chuseok, I sat there this time because there were very little people on subway for the holiday. I could have sat in regular passenger seat but I did not want to disturb the very few passengers on this train with my bags and camera too. I hope you can understand, thanks again! 🙏🏼

Very humane. Lovely video as well. If given the chance, I'll also be doing something similar to what you did, although I'd be in Korea for longer. Will definitely keep up with your new videos. These moments when you feel stuck or numb that sometimes happen when you leave your comfort zone should be in more videos, because sometimes people only want to show the best partst and people might have an unrealistic view of what it really means to travel alone.
