My mother’s brother was a toddler, just a few months old, when he was killed by an American bomb dropped on their house in the middle of nowhere. Never heard a bad word about Americans in my family though. I guess we can understand how complicated reality can be sometimes.

Great! I just cancelled our previously booked two castle tour after watching this. My 12 year old daughter was just diagnosed with autism and when I asked her about doing this private tour versus one in a coach with other people she got really excited. We are booked.

There’s absolutely a treasure trove of history within the Loire Valley Castles and I’m so happy that you put a spotlight on it in this video. Your tour guide was fantastic. I kinda wish that you visited more castles there like Azay-le-Rideau and Ussé, but I can’t complain. Love both of your clear and giddy excitement to visit the often overlooked beauty of France!

Agreed- if a person has time, a whole week can be done checking out castles, bicycling and checking out the cities like Amboise and Tours!

I think it’s great that you are also highlighting other parts of France (although I adore your Paris videos). It means that those who want to avoid the chaos of the Paris Olympics can be well-informed about other locations to visit. (Spoken as a local who kept well away from the crowds during the Sydney Olympics 😂)

🇫🇷Merci Collen and Antoine for your Loire Chateaux video. There is an amazingly inexpensive but first class option to visit all these chateaux. I took 5 Loire tours including wineries arranged through the French tourism bureau in Tours. We traveled in luxury via small Mercedes vans and had full days of Chateaux or winery visits. The average price was between $100 to $150. And there is always an English speaker at the bureau. Reservations can be made online. Also vieux Tours is a gorgeous city with reasonable hotels and great restaurants. ❤

Aaahhh…The memories…I went there in 1988 and again on a tour with my Mother in 1994 when she was 70…her first trip to France…she was such a trooper…we took a tour through the Loire Valley, surprisingly in a 6 to 8 seated Mercedes…then for a week in Paris!!! Thank you again the wonderful memories!!!

Fantastic place and episode. France is exceptional. The guide lady is so graceful and it really feels like she's a friend. Very smart way to explore a new destination,where everything is well organised. It really makes a difference to haveba person to take you from a to z and to provide all the interesting info needed without needless time wasting like when a person is going to a place for the first time,knowing nothing. That also has its own charm,but I like the organised trips for certain places. It's worth it. Thanks for taking us with you.

I think 1 day can be tiring for many people, because of the travel distance. Renting a car can be a good option to consider and spending a few nights is reasonnable too. Some may reach the Atlantic coast or Normandy from there. For less crowded Loire Valley castles, those castles can offer a more intimate and relaxing visits : Amboise, Blois Castle, Azay-le-Rideau , Cheverny Chaumont-sur-Loire , Chinon , Chateau of Villandry, d'Usse, Loches Dungeon, Chartres cathedral, Orleans cathedral (on the way to Loire valley from Paris) They still have solid cultural value. It's not only about size.

After a few days in Bordeaux, I had thought to head back to Paris via the Loire Valley, esp. Tours. But Montpelier calls to me, then high-speed back to Paris, so Loire will wait til another trip. (But the wines will be a big part of my meals in Paris.) Also, I was about the protest that the cost of your guide puts you in another target viewership than me, but on thought it is an investment in the quality of your channel, not just for a short trip, so good for you.... I watch all your vids, love your indulgences.

Loved this video. I've been to Paris 3 times, but just finally made it to the Loire last year. I went to all of the places you did. I'm soooo happy that I'm not the only one who had the "Ah, that's why The Mona Lisa is in the Louvre moment." hahaha I wasn't much for history in school, but to learn it this way is devine!

in 2014 we were lucky enough to visit the two castles! The Chambord was my favorite....the double staircase is a true work of art! They are both so beautiful and the history is so interesting. Again, thank you for another trip to France. I'll be there again in the fall but northern France, along the Seine and Normandy. I so look forward to your videos.
@jean-claudemuller31997 ай бұрын
The château of Blois, just a few miles away from Chambord has also a double wound staircase. Nearby also the château of Cheverny that inspired the cartoons creator Ergé father of the Tintin stories, this private château borrows also one of the rare remaining dogs heards for "hunting with hounds" Not to forget the special white wine brand with unique grapes dated from "François 1st" and named "Cour Cheverny" (tasting can be done just beneath the château entrance)

Loved this video! My friend and I visited Amboise, staying several days, and touring Clos Luce, Chambord and Chenonceau in June of 2022. I'm disabled, so some areas were not accessible to me. Your video allowed me to see many of the areas I missed. It was a wonderful trip and I was so excited to view this video. Thank you for featuring this area. Le Clos d'Amboise was a wonderful hotel and restaurant, and L'Epicerie , right next to the Chateau d''Amboise was stellar. I still dream about that meal! I also recommend Walter Isaacson's biography on Leonardo Da Vinci and the Starz series The Serpent Queen, for more background on Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici. We weren't able to tour Chateau d'Amboise (if disabled, you must make a reservation to get in apparently) but the history there intrigued me as it was home to Mary, queen of Scots and Anne Boleyn at one time. Leonardo Da Vinci is believed to be buried there. La belle France!
