In our second episode of Traveling With Tucker we explore Islamorada, FL.
Islamorada is great because it is so easy to get to. It’s like being in the Caribbean but you do not have to leave the continental United States so it’s much easier to get to with your four-legged friend. This is a great destination for big dogs if you live within driving distance. But if you have to fly we only recommend doing the trip with a small dog that can go in the cabin of the plane with you. We love the Keys as it is warm year round. They have never recorded frost in the Keys! It can be extremely hot in the summer months so if you and your dog like milder temps than the “winter” months are the best time to be there….. and when we say winter we are talking average temps in January register at 75 degrees!
Hotel: Casa Morada
Casa Morada is one of the most dog friendly and relaxing hotels we have ever stayed at! At check-in they offer you a complimentary drink that we never turn down! Once they show you to your room you will find a dog bed and a food and water bowl with a bottle of water just for your doggy. The best part is they also include a packet with all the information to make your stay with your four-legged family member the best it can possibly be with information like local vets, groomers and dog friendly restaurants. There are a lot of outside areas to explore on the grounds with your pup and they also have a boat ramp that doubles as a great place for your pup to take a dip! The only one complaint that we have is that you are not allowed to take your doggy out onto the island where the pool is. Other than that the hotel is literal perfection! Now this is very much a boutique hotel, which is what we prefer but if you are into the super large resorts this is not the place for you.
