The truth bomb hurts. I have travelled throughout the Philippines over a dozen trips since 1993. Your video is spot on. Nice place to visit, explore but not to eat or live. People are friendly, diving and beaches are outstanding. Food and infrastructure are the downside. Thank you for not sugar coating your experiences in other countries

Ryan I go to visit my brother who live on Palawan so I go once a year. JOLLiBEE 😖 what ever oil they frie their food in taste F@*"ing terrible and smells the same, I think it's palm oil. Do they use it in Cambodia.? I've been to Vietnam twice and I'm sure they don't use it there. What's your thoughts 🤔 Great entertaining videos, keep up the good work.👍
@itchyfeetonthecheap8 ай бұрын
I'm not sure if they use palm oil here. I'd guess Soy, but I really don't know. One day I'd like to do a video about stuff like that - the basics of cooking here.

I'm going there soon for a couple weeks. I'll let you know all about my poops - if I get better results than you did.
Ahhhh Ryan. Yet another classic and entertaining video. Best is Sarah insisting to go to Mickey D's. Super fun. Thanks

Lived in PH for a year & a half. Needless to say, I'm living back in the USA again... There's not much to like about Philippines other than the select few beach areas you mention. Also, the longer you stay there, the more you start to notice the small things that get really fkin' annoying after a while... Like how nobody ever shows up to an appointment on time, or even show up at all.. & not even have the courtesy to let you know they are going to be HOURS later or they are not coming at all.. This applies to everything, even private doctors. Go to the doctors office, wait there ALL DAY for 10 hours for the Doctor to arrive just to find out the Dr never bothered to come to work or call-in & be told at the end of the day they are closing and maybe try again tomorrow. Or waiting in line at the local Prince Hypermart (a small department store) for 40 minutes even tho there's only 3 people in the line. Or most toilets don't have a toilet seat AND the bowl is very shallow so your balls ALWAYS end up rubbing all over inside the toilet, forcing you to wash your ass AND your balls AND your hands... Most places don't have toilet paper, forcing you to wash your ass with your bare hand.. etc. I'll never live there ever again.
@itchyfeetonthecheap8 ай бұрын
That's a lot of information. Some might say too much information... but I'm the type of guy that appreciates a good ball sack in toilet story. I was surprised how slow lines were in the Philippines. I went to the grocery store once and it was painful how slow the cashier was working.

Pilipino not like the Chinesse, Japanesse, malaysian,Indonesian,Thailand & other Asean countries is a mix of culture from most of our neighboring countries. Pilipino Lacks its own culture & it goes also to our food, mybe only dinuguan & balot is ours & most of all we are the most corrupt people in the world. I agree we are just being friendly & just lucky to have a beautiful tropical country. Hope this will give you the exact answer from a true Pilipino.

It's true, usually foreigners wil get turn off with the food especially if they only explore Manila or Cebu due to the amount of fried stuff there. I barely can find vegetarian dishes when I went to Cebu. However, there are also places in the Philippines that prefer more of the vegan/vegetarian diet and put emphasis on food quality but they are just not as popular as the main cities sadly. Perhaps next time you could explore Western Visayas especially the Ilonggo cities like Iloilo and Bacolod. I find their food far better than the ones in Manila or Cebu.

I am carnivore and can’t do spicy food. Philipino food works great for me. Everything is NOT fried. Traditional food is great! Soups, bbqs vegetables, rices, corn. The late Anthony Bourdain said, “ Filipino food is underrated.” People speak English and are helpful. Bohol and oslob are horrible. Internet sux.

I’ve been to the Philippines 60 times since 2005 because I’ve been to Thailand 30 times and Manila is my overnight layover city coming from and going to Atlanta, Georgia. I stay at the Resort World Marriott. I’m a Lifetime Titanium Marriott Rewards Member and it’s my favorite Marriott in the World. The service is phenomenal. You do pay for it $250/night. I’ve had zero desire to go outside of Resort World because the Philippines does not appeal to me like Thailand.

most fast food or other entry level jobs are only 6 months and then they go somewhere else. Companies do this to avoid paying benefits. The labor laws are designed to keep the poverty wheel rolling. It's not fair for good working Filipinos, but it shows in lack of attention and a 'I don't care attitude' with many, not all, Filipinos." Your reviews reflect this reality in The Philippines. It's near 50/50 with excellent employees and facilities. Let's be honest The Philippines just do not do a lot things the right way like a majority of countries do on planet Earth.

sadly, even fish is expensive in the Philippines, also, it is the largest importer of rice in the world and it comes from India which supplies the lowest quality broken rice, the best rice from native Philippines is balatinaw black rice which has some of the highest anthocyanins in the world, good for skin and eyes, however, its not promoted as it should be to the locals. Filipinos are the nicest human beings on the planet, but the oligarchy is looting the country and not supporting the locals which force them to move to other countries.
@itchyfeetonthecheap8 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing. Didn't know that about the rice. I'll look for it next time I'm there.

Oh, and after watching your Russian Market eatery/drinkery video (another belter) I started checking some of the places out, and i saw you in Lot 369 earlier in the week.

God yes. Manila airport is the pits. On the plus side, it was cheaper to fly from Bali to Melbourne via Manila than direct.
@TonyKeepingItClean8 ай бұрын
@@LingoFilesin that situation its worth it because you dont need to the airport. I had to take a tricycle from international to domestic, and the whole area was awash with people trying to pull my pants down.

I actually had a whole bit in the video about how terrible the Manila airport is, but I ended up cutting it for time reasons. It's the only airport I've been to that requires you to leave the airport and drive through the streets to transfer terminals.
