I was going to be admitted to the hospital and hurried up and packed a zipper pouch with 12 watercolor pans, and about the same pens, markers, regular and a couple watercolor pencils, clip, cheap water brush, an 8 and a 10 round and my 5x7 sketchbook. The pouch was kind of stuffed, but still closed and fit in the square side pocket of my usual hospital bag. I did leave personal toiletries and medication at home and that freed up space in the bag overall. I figured they would give me the basics there. I was laughing at myself, but I knew I would be miserable without any art supplies, even just to take out and doodle with. I need to find a stick in the backyard!

@@jojocatattack Yuo, I completely agree: art supplies before personal hygiene supplies! 😆 Especially when you are going somewhere where they supply them such as a hospital, hotel, etc.!

More women need to learn how to build each other's businesses up like you guys do! Support and encourage each other. Great example ladies. And thank you for sharing in your beautiful art. You can get collapsible water bowls at dollar tree in the pet supply aisle. I would add a gift card for mark making and one of those clear wax crayons found in Easter egg dye kits for a resist.

The items you have packed to take to Canada is exactly what i carry in my daily "go everywhere" bag (minus the cute little sketchbook, of course lol). I am constantly running my 14 and 15 year old boys places and I tend to spend a lot of time sitting around waiting for them. So i love to whip out my paints when/if I get a creative urge lol. So i think what you have packed is perfect! Now I have to get one of those "lunch box style" bags. Its so cute! Right now, my stuff is just loose in my bag. Off to Amazon I goooooooooo!!!

I took a bunch of things to Nova Scotia. Next year, just a few basics because all I used was my small set of watercolours, 2 water brushes, eraser, pencil, 2 black liners, 1 white posca pen, one sketchbook and a handful of my most used luminance pencils. I painted 2 pages from start to finsish while I was there but did more when I got home from my photos. I also had two or three pages started with my base colours and finished them when we were there. It's just hard for me to find that block of time to zone in on painting if you've been out doing the tourist thing all day.

Thank you for the tips. And I need that travel bag that "looks like a lunch box." It will be much more efficient than three pouches!

I found the BUBM three layer electronics organizer and travel organizer (amazon) works great for different sizes of pens, pencils and markers. It also has other pockets for my sketchbook and watercolor pallettes. Because it is set up to house all kinds of electronics the way it is sectioned off works great for art supplies. It even fits my board that I got from just go sketching as well. I’m sure you could make one of those but I am not handy at things like that. I just wish that particular BUBM case came in any other color than grey and orange, but that is just my preference.

I hope you have a wonderful trip. I too always take art supplies in the airplane because I think it would be much more enjoyable than watching old reruns of Friends or a movie on a 5x7 screen. I never use the art supplies though. However I have an upcoming long flight (10 hours) and I will try preparing some pages of circles or maybe your neurographic jellyfish and take a waterbrush to just fill in with colors. It really would be calming after the stress of getting to the airport on time, getting through security, etc etc
@deekang62443 ай бұрын
I find the plane “vibrates” too much. I have a hard time working on my sketchbook during a flight. I do take notes, though. On post-its. So if the plane moves suddenly, I don’t wreck my sketchbook, but I know when I land what I want to write.

I hope you have a wonderful time! I have something like the bag you're taking that I use all the time, and it's really great for what I need it to do. If someone wants a higher number of paint colors but still needs to keep it small, there's a very cool ceramic mini palette set that Stephanie Law designed (Etchr is producing it) that comes in a little tin case - you get a palette with either 19 or 37 wells, and then a second ceramic dish for mixing your paints. They're about 3 inches across. I took mine to Greece a few years ago, and it worked really well for me.

That zippered pouch - you need it to have sides. It will fit much more and in a smaller space. Mine has “sides” like a box pillow does. It also has a clear top so I can immediately see what’s in there. It’s quite small. Like the turquoise one. Mine was even smaller. It fits everything I take, including brushes. I take travel brushes, or sometimes I just cut off the end of my wooden brush. Also, use the clear ends (like a straw), you know, a protector for the end of the brush. Travel brushes come in different sizes. Also, I didn’t like the aqua brushes at first either. But you do get used to them. I only take a few of my favorites. A few colored pencils, a few pens (I chose a color theme for the trip), a few brushes. And a small palette. It all fits into my little bag. My 4x6” sketchbook is separate. I have also decided that all of my sketchbooks for travel are 4x6”. I love them lined up on my shelf.
