All great tips for those not knowing or needing a reminder. I do have one input, the engine stop switch (kill switch) should only be used in emergencies or to input the pin code.
@TravelingTall
@TravelingTall Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment but that's wrong. You always use the kill switch when turning off the bike. Now I'm curious, how many people don't? 🤔 * Comment below * "Use" or "Don't" use the kill switch?
@GlidingOnTwos
@GlidingOnTwos Жыл бұрын
@@TravelingTall I've never used it and was also taught that at MMI. I'm also curious. Maybe you can do a video interview with one of the Techs there to see what their input is on the subject, 🤷🏽‍♂️.

Brother Tall, perhaps you’re already pursuing this; HD should/must hire you (independent contractor) as “The Voice of Harley D.” There could be different episodes covering a variety of topics. Throwing in a comment to help your algorithm! 22 RG is my first bike ever. 3,500 miles of riding experience. I ride in the south so fortunately I don’t have a real winter cycle causing the bike to sit. Regarding the safety pin and transportation mode was very insightful. Thank you for the info. I bought a 2016 Ultra Limited a little over a year ago and as you mentioned I was really tired but excited when I bought it. I only knew the things I had learned on uTube prior to buying the bike. The salesman wasn’t much help and I soon found out that I knew more about it than he did. By the way, I bought a 2016 FLHTK. Thanks again for your videos. I’ve been following you for some time now and will continue to do so.

Had to laugh out loud. That happened to me. I stopped for gas and found the key fob had fallen out of my pocket. Had to use my code. Retraced my route and found it a couple miles back. Sure as anything, someone had run over it. Thank God for that code. Good video.

Great video! I dropped a fob while on a ride in Tombstone. Fortunately, a rider in the group knew how to start without a fob and also the default code to start it. I have my own code set (I went back and found the fob) now but had forgotten how to access it. After this video I will go out into the garage and check it out. I have the code in my wallet since 2020. Thanks for posting this.

Obama with a Harley career... I dig that brother. I learn like gazillion things with just this video and I was looking for a video like this for a long time specially the fact that I just bought a Road King FLHP in about a month ago. And that key thing is super helpful. The part where you can actually set your own pin or even ride it off without the FOB! Thanks man, I can't thank you enough and we kinda do the same thing in KZbin for those that needs help. Never thought I would appreciate something someone else does here beside me, and it's been awhile since all KZbinrs are just floating the community and not taking their times to help and demonstrate. I would like to see that this is hands down the absolute excellent best educational and informative video explaining the functions of a motorcycle I've ever seen in my entire life and I'm 61 years old and have been a biker my entire life! You explain things so amazingly simple and clearly! Thank you so very very much, I was one of them **_ FOUR *_C guys where you stated that you are so excited about buying your bike that you just don't really pay attention to anything you're being told because you're just so ecstatic of your bike, you are awesome at what you do on these videos and you definitely have the right career because you are a people person. I am Hawk from Eastern North Carolina about 60 miles east of Raleigh North Carolina and I bought a 2006 new to me Road Glide ironically a year tomorrow isn't that ironic? I had not written or owned a bike in 19 years it took 19 years for me to get back to being able to own a bike and I am thrilled and it is a beautiful beautiful bike. Thank you again for this video and I will definitely subscribe and look at all your other videos. May you and your family friends and loved ones have a very very Merry Christmas and a happy healthy and safe New Year! Again I thank you. Hawk. I stumbled across your video today and the date of today is 12:17- 22, I just can't believe how ironic it is that I stumbled across this video and tomorrow makes one year I had my bike.

Oh, I wish I found this video a month ago. I had a 4-See delivery myself on my first Harley about a month ago. Imagine my surprise when the controls did not behave the way I expected them to. And the computer seemed to have a mind of its own. After watching this video and reading the manual cover-to-cover, I picked up several important bits of knowledge. I love my Street Glide Special, bought new off the showroom floor. Thank you for developing this topic. Too often, experienced riders forget that some of us are soooo new that we don't really understand our own machine. Cruising around the Napa Valley in California.

I know you used to always say Street Glide or no Glide but I see you having more Road Glides in your videos and I’m loving it. Wassup tall, AP here from Chatham; a small town in south central Va. About 25 miles north of the Carolina line. I'm riding a '97 Dyna Wideglide and a 96 Heritage Softail Nostalgia. I had a sportster then a superglide and the GREATEST BLESSING GOD EVER bestowed on a man; in my 1st born son and another son 2 yes later. So I would take a couple decade break from riding to raise my kids (purely my personal life choice) and I can't believe how rusty I was when I got back in the saddle of my Wideglide. So I'm really enjoying the videos and all the tips. They have reminded me of some things I had forgotten plus some things that I didn't even know. So thanks for sharing them.

Hey Tall, 2022 RGST, probably the one in the video. These comments had me curious so I opened the manual. Page 121 stopping the engine states: 1. Push the off/run switch to off. 2. Turn the ignition switch to off. Thanks for the video
@glennharley945

So to put this to rest, used to be called a kill switch back in the day for emergencies. For some time it has been called a "Off/Run" switch. Page 120 of the 2022 Touring manual starting your bike it is Ignition Switch/Run Switch. Page 123 of the 2022 Touring manual stopping your bike it is Stop Switch/Ignition Switch (ya I know no one reads a manual). It has been that way for years, but way back yes was intended for an emergency kill. Fun fact for those coming from a Twin Cam to a M8. Ever wonder why a M8 turns over a bit before firing? Harley designed this into the start system to enable oil circulation prior to an engine start. Good to know this if you are wondering if you have a battery issue. FYI many Harley dealers will use your own Zip code or theirs for the pin, but good job in the video to discover yours!!!!!

Thanks for the tips, I bought a 2022 Harley-Davidson Heritage in May and I was told about starting without the key fob but wasn’t told how to use it or reset the code however I found how to in the manual and found only two KZbin videos showing how it’s done. I keep my code and how to activate it on my iPhone that is always with me. I didn’t know about the battery tender plug until I bought a battery tender to keep the battery charged in the hot Las Vegas summer. Love your videos and rides! P.S. Just got rid of my 07 heritage softtail and got a 2018 RG special and I love it. I should've done this way before now, I've been missing out. 😂

Hey Tall! Devin here originally from SC but military retirement has made Manhattan, KS(known as "The Little Apple"….go figure🤭) my home of residence. Just saw this video and before you ask, yes I’m subscribed to your channel. Just wanted to thank you for what you’re doing for the motorcycle community. Specifically, the Harley Davidson community💪🏾! Keep the videos coming brother! Just purchased a 2023 Low Rider ST in Vivid Black(Raven) in February as a retirement gift to myself!! My very 1st motorcycle!🙌🏾!!Again, thank you for all you do! Stay blessed brother!!

Great video. FYI to everyone! The dealer decided to run the battery tender connector on my SG behind the swing arm next to the belt drive and there is about 3/4 inches between the belt and the swing arm- cut my tender pigtail in half. The battery tender connector on new Harleys are hardwired to the main harness. I had to reattach it by rewiring and crimping it together. Check this before you leave the dealership.

Cumming, GA (Metro Atlanta) 2005 Heritage Softail Classic Peace Officer Edition 2002 Road King CVO Thanks for the tips! I didn't know that you could take the rain sock off! Bought the Road King in September and it was not only on the bike but tucked under the cover, so I thought it was supposed to remain on. I literally paused the video and went out to the garage and pulled it off!

Hey Tall. Awesome video. I have a 2018 street glide. Bought my bike from my neighbor. It's in excellent condition since he took really good care of it but didn't tell me about these tips. I don't think he even knows so I'll share with him as well. Keep the videos coming and God bless.

2005 Sportster 883 Low. It was my dad’s bike and it came to me earlier this year when he passed. This was not my first bike but it is my first Harley. While most of this didn’t apply to my bike, it was very informative. I wasn’t aware of the rain sock and I’m gonna go get one today! Great video!
