Going vegan? What a terrible decision! It's gonna impact your health in such a negative way that you can't even imagine. I always thought you as a very attractive lady for your age, but now things are going to change if you start being vegan and you stick to it long enough. There are plenty of 25 year old vegans looking like they're 40 or something, so prepare to age faster than ever before. But why, if you could be 40 and still look like you were 25? January is also world carnivore month! Look it up!

I just found your channel and subscribed, Kristen. Great content. Sorry to hear about your family trauma and the passing of your pup. Taking the time for healing and self-reflection is important. I’ve been a self-employed pet sitter for the past 10 years, and the only challenging thing about it is when I lose a (client’s) pet. I’ve also lost a few of my own. The pain is real, and raw. I was a vegan for five years before going back to being an omnivore. Stay with it for a year and you’ll never go back to eating like crap again. It was life-changing for me. All the best in 2025. It’s nice you have someone special to share it with.

In my travels Kristin (Not as much as you did) and working for an International tourist organization (The Club Med) for three years I learned that a very important factor in life it is emotional stability. During my forties and living in California I also learned that although making a living it is very important, us humans also need to nourish our intellect and get in tune with our soul. Like you, I am fascinating with learning and it has provided me so many benefits (Specially Knowing better our world and our human race) that it is hard to describe. You are a beautiful, decent, honest and a sincere human being Kristin and like you I want to believe in humanity and I refused (In this egotistical world tha we live nowadays) to abandon my sense of compassion and kindness to others. Thank you so much for being who you are!

Heartfelt sentiments for the loss of your beloved dog. One of the most challenging ones to endure imho. I pray your heart heals while you experience the loss. I respect your words and experiences and being plant based, myself, can appreciate the transition with this. The food in US still feels unhealthy and tasteless even still to me while making this choice. I am getting a lot out of your content as I make my way and I pray your path continues to unfold naturally and gently. 🙏🏻

I admire you for finding your niche in the travel "world". What always surprises me is to find videos on KZbin for those who have failed at their dream relocation. I think choosing a relocation country relies more than just watching a video of someone saying Country A is great for relocation and deciding to make that move without even personally confirming it. I travel a lot, having over 75 countries I've stayed at; not just passed through on a layover. I love travel, but have no plans for international relocation...no matter how great my visits go. But I enjoy your video Kristin!

Thank you for this update and for your forthrightness. While you don’t owe us any explanations about your life choices, it did make me feel more connected to you as you opened up. It’s so wild you mention a PhD in anthropology… I’m teaching an undergraduate course this spring on Archives and Collective Memory, and it’s a course that’s been taught before but I’m revamping as I want to teach it “my way.” Putting together that reading list has been some real emotional work, but it also prompted me to look into PhD programs in cultural anthropology within the past few weeks. (Leiden University looks particularly amazing!) I agree with your client about hustle culture. It’s exhausting.

Happy New Year, Kristin! Thank you so much for all you do. One of the over-riding themes expressed by contributors and commenters, with which I whole-heartedly agree, is that it's important to be moving to something at least as much as they are moving away from something. In my case, I don't have much time or many opportunities for extended exploratory travel to identify cultures, which may be a good fit for me. And yet, I'm certain that international relocation is going to be necessary, in my near-future. I'm hoping there may be relatively low-cost methods for broadly identifying one's best cultural fits, beyond the basics, e.g., cost of living, healthcare, ease of immigration, etc., to facilitate a workable number for in-depth consideration. Would you recommend any resources of this type, you may be aware of for this purpose, please?

Follow your heart and intuition. Kristin you have no obligations to your followers as you have already given them a gift. Best of luck in your relationship. One final thing- I have traveled almost constantly during my 69 years and while it has enriched me however, I feel I do not belong in any one place. Its not a regret but travel has, like all education- a cost.

Many condolences for the struggles and losses you have been through recently. It is good to share those emotions with your community as we all go through these times in our lives, so no need to hold back on those natural expressions. Yes, “big food” in the United States is atrocious! I am on the carnivore end of the diet spectrum, however, I think a Whole Foods, unprocessed food approach is best for everyone, regardless of whether they choose to eat animal products or not. I tend to see an animal based diet as being ancestrally appropriate for humans, but I think everyone should choose what works best for them. Food is very personal.

Bring vulnerable, is really a sign of strength. Thank you for sharing. Please continue to spread word of a Whole Food plant based diet or however you choose to say it. But we're also hitting Christmas markets in Belgium, France, Luxembourg, and Netherlands. I totally get your reasons for wanting to get off of the road. Since then, my husband Jorge, our happy Golden Retriever Buddy, and I have been living in Querétaro, México, for three years now ... we moved from my hometown of Dallas, Texas, on December 7, 2021. A week from today we will move to a new and lovely rental home here in Querétaro. The owner of the house has given us carte blanche to beautify the back yard however we want. We love yard work! I got my permanent Mexican residency in October. In November Jorge and I celebrated our 33rd anniversary. 🙂 Life is good. ¡Saludos! Joseph Quillian ... in México I'm Pepe. 🙂

We all go through different seasons. I've traveled and lived all over the US for 50 years, down into Mexico and around Europe. The past six years I've been in Europe and I thought Scotland would be my home base as it's my country of origin. I realize at 65 years of age my health can no longer prosper in rainy, damp weather. With that being said a warmer, drier climate along the Mediterranean is where I'm searching for a home base. I understand your diet issues. The American diet is so full of processed foods. I do a pescitarian Mediterranean style diet. I also lost my furry little road warrior. My little Chihuahua was 17 and the demenia and cancer resulted in her being put to sleep three weeks ago. She was my travel buddy. Before her my Golden Retriever who lived to 18.5 yrs. It's hard as that was 32+ years with two dogs claiming my heart. 💔 As for anthropology you could do a self study and/or pick some online classes you enjoy or audit classes in your area. You won't have to take exams but you will still gain the knowledge. Yes, the culture in America has changed to survival. I am now looking for my home base, friendships and having the time for my art and fiction writing that has been an ongoing project. You do look different. You have not just an outer but an inner glow. Just enjoy the moment, refocus, love and be loved by your family and friends. Blessings and Happy New Year. ❤🎉

Sorry about the loss of your companion. We lost our beloved doggie this year too. 😥 Our government needs to start subsidizing fruits and vegetables rather than corn, but that would open a huge can of worms. If people would focus on eating a wide variety of colors - including more fiber, that by itself would solve a lot of health issues. Blaming gluten seems to be trendy these days.

Kristen well i am retired for 1 year now. I have no problem not working. I moved out of an expensive state (California), to a more affordable state(Ohio). I wish i had fone it sooner. So many famous people have been from Ohio. On the flight here i met a football player with his frenchie dog. We had a warm conversation. If you saw us, you would never imagine that we would have so much to share and so much in comon. I have traveled alot since being 18 and living in Morelia, Mexico with my family. I learned Spanish and got to know all of them better.

Also I love and appreciate my country U.S. I don't feel the need to leave it. Yes it has it's problems, but I listen to news from around the world, and our economy is doing much better than so many. By moving out of an expensive state, I have bought 4 houses so far. I could have never done that in California. Every day I wake up I say thank you God and the angels for protecting me so I can continue on this journey.

Sorry for your sadness this year. I hope you don’t feel you HAVE to keep traveling just for us. Things change. We get that.

Hi Kristin! Thanks for sharing this video. I really relate to your comment about not being tied to one location. I’m an anthropologist who teach at a NY area university, so I’m glad to hear about your interest in anthropology. I spend a significant amount of time travelling doing research. I’m currently considering early retirement from my teaching job to move/travel abroad. What is holding me back is my concern to earn a living while I’m abroad. Im single with no children and I definitely know the US is not for me anymore, especially now. I’m currently purging my stuff with a general plan to make that move. I need a concrete plan to make it all happen, with options for making money to live on before retirement age kicks in. I’ll check out your book! Happy new year to you and your family. Thanks again for giving us free content with reminders that there’s a huge world to explore!

As someone that lives in south Florida, I know Miami doesn’t suck. It is also essentially the capital of Latin America, so while you are in the USA it can feel like you aren’t. I hope you turn the corner on your troubles and wish you a spectacular 2025.

Sweet summary of 2024 for you and plans for 2025. I really enjoy your perspectives on life and travel as a young person. I missed the opportunities but fit a bit of travel in between kids, work and daily living so all is good. It was a decent balance considering. You have roamed long and often in your young life so maybe you will experience a homeness segment of life in the foreseeable future? Best of luck to you next year...😊

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your dog. I often describe many USA foods as laboratory modified. It appears that the FDA is more concerned about corporate profits than the citizen's health. Have a happy New Years.

Just a occasional viewer...I'm always interested in Americans who have moved abroad, and their perspective. I'm a retired educator who retired in '99 at age 49 and immediately moved to Germany. I have flats in Leipzig and Dresden, and as we move into '25, am celebrating 26 extraordinarily rich and fulfilled years. My friends in the States consider me a "world traveler ", but in actuality I'm essentially Eurocentric. I have been privileged to have experienced much of this remarkable continent . I wish you well, and hope you continue your important work . The broadened development that travel and living abroad provide, is reinforcing a shared humanity ...thank you, and Happy New Year!

There is a lot of sheep-like mentality online, so many people want to listen to the podcasts that "everyone else" is listening to online. It's sad, but true, and quite natural for those under the age of 30. I'm sorry about the traumatic event your family experienced with one of your loved ones. I hope you can all heal together. Losing a beloved pet is never easy, either. That kind of grief can last a lifetime, even if it does get easier to deal with it over time. In my experience, even after 30 years, it never goes away completely, it just doesn't come up as often. Wishing the best for you in 2025, no matter what you decide or where you end up~ P.S. Getting a PhD is no freakin' joke. It's a long, time-intensive, reading-intensive process and it locks you down for a good 10 years, mostly in one or two locations, maybe 3 if you're fortunate.

Would like to see more on where a solo US female retiree can move to with just a SS income around $2,000 USD monthly. Sadly, no citizenship by ancestry options. I don't want to live in Asia, btw. Thank you! Happy New Year! Hope 2025 is a great year for you! 💚

The only reason I’m still in the USA now is due to parents and pets. I will bring most of my pets but my parents are in their late 80s and I can’t leave them permanently. I do pop over to France (where I own my first overseas home) from time to time. I’m sorry for your personal struggles Kristen, and hope you will continue your traveling lifestyle when you can!

Congratulations on the relationship, long distance or not! It's always difficult to find someone we vibe with. Just a point of clarification on the vegan thing, veganism is merely a stance against exploitation. It has nothing to do with diet as I can be fully vegan and eat Oreos 24 hours a day and not exploit others, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone's health. Haha. But I would agree, following a whole foods plant-based diet has shown to increase longevity in every long-term study I can think of. Don't get too crazy with raw foods or juicing, or anyone superfood as that's mostly marketing. They don't really bear out in the literature. Just try to eat the rainbow and fill yourself with great tasting legumes, grains, vegetables, and fruits!

Hey Kristin! First Off: Congratulations on EVERYTHING!!! Secondly: glad to see the going vegan is working out well for you! Previously, I thought it was just something that some people did to be better than other people or as a religion. Glad to see you doing it for the right reasons! I was one of those people that looked at you in previous videos and said: "Ooh... She looks like an old lady now." Now I can easily say that you look 10 years younger. Keep up the good work! ❤

An engineer that trained for years to make rocket ships go to the Moon ... does not have to go to the Moon to have expertise in her field. You EARNED and have GROWN incredible EXPERTISE over 20 years. THAT !!! ... is you expertise and experience that qualifies you as a "Move Abroad Consultant" ... not the fact you are currently living abroad. YOU ROCK Kristin. I support you in fully claiming and owning your own expertise and YOU being the one to give yourself the promotion to your next version of what you offer. Love that! I am also self-employed, and realized this same thing. We pronounce to ourselves our next "promotion" in our job.
