The "generator" is called a GPU (Ground Power Unit). It is used when aircraft engines are off. Bigger aircraft have an APU(Auxiliary Power Unit), which is at the tail section of the aircraft.

Ayeee thank you very much for this explanation, Martino. I read your comment and then watched a movie where a pilot was prepping for take off and said “We are ready to disconnect ground power” and I was so happy to have understood exactly what he meant by that. Thanks again ✨ Edit: the name of the movie: Non-Stop (Liam Neeson)

Really enjoying your Kenya series! What an initiative to build these smart cities! I love how it empowers and enriches the community. Would be awesome to have some of these in Cameroon, projects from African investors and not the west or Chinese! I hope Cameroonian millionaires will take note and imitate Mr Mwale!
@mutomboinprogress Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much, Es! That's exactly the thing! African investors tend to maintain the culture around the area. Like at MMTC, you will see people still living their lives the way they always have, they still ride their bicycles or walk to wherever they are going - just that now, they are riding on tar roads and not dirt roads, they still own their land, there is no pollution, they still live in their houses - just that now they can opt for electricity supply from the solar plant... So it is literally built around the community. Foreign investors may want to evacuate the area and start building afresh and it will be a Western-looking city in an African village which is really not what we need in Africa. Anyway, yes they have the same vision for Cameroon but we do need Cameroonian investors to invest in these projects and also shape the development of our country. Thank you Es, your comments always make me go deep into thought and I end up writing an essay here. Matter of fact, this explanation is going into the next video. 😂😂😂

@mutomboinprogress Жыл бұрын
Ommggggg I need to try it with goat curry!!! And it's so simple and easy to make! Do your friends also call it chapati? I guess it may be the same thing called differently in different cultures. I also learned on this trip that Kenya, especially along the coast, has a lot of influences from Arabic regions. Possibly South East Asia as well because they are literally across the pond from each other. Thank you Es!! ❤❤
@esthergrace6466 Жыл бұрын
@@mutomboinprogress You’d love it with goat curry!!!! Yes, my friends call it chapati. I know that parts of Kenya and Tanzania are heavily influenced by South Asian culture so the foods they share tend to have the same names. But it’s funny you mentioned other cultures having flat breads because Mexicans (and other Latinos) use tortilla which is similar to chapati. 🫓 Occasionally my Indian friends will use tortilla as a substitute for chapati in a meal but they always call it chapati just because they served it with an Indian meal!😂😂😂 But if we ate the same thing with taco or fajita meat they would call it tortilla!!! Just interesting! 😀

Hahaha no relation at all! But I’m happy Mr. Mutombo has paved the way to greatness for us Mutombos 😂😂😂. EE/CS is actually the perfect combo. There is no way an EE can survive on the field these days without knowledge of some CS! I personally had to learn Python from scratch to be able to complete my Masters dissertation. Wished I had that orientation from the beginning. Would have made things a bit easier for me ✨✊🏽

@@mutomboinprogress What was your masters dissertation about?
@mutomboinprogress Жыл бұрын
@@kenyann4906 my topic was 'Admission Control in Sliced Networks using Predictive Analytics'. Long story short, I chose a forecasting model to use and trained it using some network data. Then I proposed 2 algorithms that would admit users into a network, based on what the forecasting model says the expected network traffic would be. It's actually quite an interesting read.
@kenyann4906 Жыл бұрын
@@mutomboinprogress That's super interesting. I don't know too much about wireless networks but I did a bit of reading a couple years ago, out of interest. I'm fascinated by the changes in the telecom world, moving more into virtualization/SDN -- the OpenRAN initiative etc. Telecom is becoming more & more like cloud computing. I need to up my reading soon to catch up with what's going on. There's an interesting US company in this space, called Parallel Wireless. They've deployed in DRC, Ghana and other countries. Would love to read your dissertation if available.
@mutomboinprogress Жыл бұрын
@@kenyann4906 you have hit the nail on the head. You know your stuff! 👏🏽👏🏽 Virtualisation and cloud computing are the big things now and will be for the foreseeable future. At this point, you don’t even need to officially study telecoms to work in the field. You can come in via IT, or certifications backed by the big companies like Amazon. I like having the foundation of a degree though. Once my school makes my dissertation publicly available, I’ll probably send you a link.
