Passengers in Europe are protected by the laws in the EU, no matter where you're from. This means that if you have a flight delay - you could get repaid by the airline for the trouble it caused if:
1.Your flight arrived at the final destination with a delay of more than 3 hours
2. Your flight departed from EU airport or was operated by an EU airline
flight delay resulted from the airline’s fault (conflicting schedules, technical issues, airline staff strikes, etc.)
3. You did check-in for your flight on time
