@@LE-uy7me Where did I say say England means nothing to them? I am sure they are good citizens and pay their taxes and contribute to society there but there a nostalgic link to one's ancestral home that defies description. Human beings remain very tribal in some ways. This is the same reason why my schoolfriend's father asked for his ashes to be buried in Scotland when he expired in America. It was odd because his wife had to write to the local Lord ( I suppose only a figurehead) for permission to spread his cremated remains on the estate grounds ( I guess he would be termed a commoner there). The point I am trying to make is that even after a lifetime in the US, this man had an ancestral link with the land of his forebears. The same reason why successive US Presidents will have a photo op in the place of origin of their immigrant grandparents or great grandparents. I have seen this first hand when Irish Americans visit the Emerald Isle and the locals milk them for money playing on this sentiment and nostalgia. It's the same with us Pakistanis who feel a visceral attachment to the land of our ancestors. Our language, ways and traditions that define us sense of self. Think back to when US President Regan would sing "When Irish eyes are smiling" along with the Canadian PM who was also of Irish origin while neither of them had ever lived in Ireland. I don't think either meant to say the US means nothing to them or that Canada means nothing to them.
