I am myself from Majuli. There are other Bodo origin communities in Majuli as well: Chutiya community,Matak community and Koch. But as they are non-tribal the Bodos mostly are ignorant of them. And most of the non-tribal people of Majuli have houses like you saw in the Sonowal Kachari village which you said was similar with Boros. Only one thing differ is the rearing of pigs. About the population Mising tribe has the largest share of population. They are 30 Percent of the total population. The other communities Koch, Kalita, Kaibbarta, Ahom, Nath etc. combine to form the 70 percent. During last MLA election Majuli had 1.50 lakh voters, out of which 35 thousand were tribal voters, 20 thousand Schedule Caste voters and the rest were General &OBC voters. From this data people can figure the population statistics. Actually people from other parts come to visit Satras and all. It is true. They are ignorant of tribal villages. But like you said overall tribal population is not majority in Majuli. Community wise Mising community have the largest population.

@@moonsuske Different historians were of different opinion. However, it is certain that Kaibbarta people were once a tribe who would dwell on the wetlands. Kaibbarta people are not of Aryan origin. Many conspiracies were made to claim them as Aryan. Speaking about , Assam the first Assamese scripture was written by a Kaibbarta monk known as Luipa during 9 A.D. in the form of Charyapadas ( Buddhist text ). The Charyapadas is still preserved in Tibet. Moreover, in the rock inscriptions of Ashoka the word Kaibbarta is found dating back to 1000 years ago. In Assam also in Kamarup district an inscription was discovered where Kaibbarta people were described. During, the medival period Kaibbarta people were engaged as tax collector of the riverine areas. They also build their own kingdom in Doboka area of Nagaon. Going, through Mythology, in the puranas it is written that the first ever Danav king who ruled Kamarupa namely Mahiranga Danava was a Kaibbarta. Historians like R.L. Barua have also written the same. However, some books assert that Mahiranga Danava was Kirata. Even , then leaving the Mythology behind it is certain that Kaibbarta people have been living in Assam since ancient times. It is proved by the inscriptions and other monuments.
