nice vidio but you forgot to mention two points about the 5 vs the four. First, the five is much lighter than the the 4 and it is a slightly different size both of these feqtures are important when traveling on discoount european airlines which weigh luggage and have dragconian size requirements which are enforced with expensive check in fines. The weight of you luggage must be no more than 10 kilos and the width cannot be more than 7.75 in. If one was challaged, the 4 might not fit in the sizer of Ryne Air. The 1/2 pound lighter 5 makes a differencwhat you can bring. So on a long trip abroad where one does not want to incure more fees, these size and weight features of the five make a big difference enough to pay for a new case.

Thank you David! I appreciate you sharing the information because it can make a difference. I think it's easy to sometimes overlook how much a bag weighs, myself included, but the cost can quickly add up. Thanks again and take care!

As advertised in Amazon, in photos, there is a TSA lock, that I can’t see in your video. Does it have it or no? I’ve ordered 2 of these last night and I’ve checked on Amazon and definitely there is pictures of the TSA lock but yours doesn’t seem to have it as you didn’t mentioned it. I’m now worried.

good video, but give dimensions...I looked it up, won't work for most international flights

Hi Michelle! Great feedback, thanks. You’re exactly right, I’ve found that Travelpro’s International bags seem to be closer to US domestic airline size requirements. I’m going to try to incorporate dimensions and weight in upcoming videos. I know how helpful that can be when looking. Thanks again!

Currently in the market for this bag and can't stand the repositioned side handle. It's an ergonomic nuisance. You're forced to carry it with your knuckles facing forward rather than outwards if the handle was positioned conventionally as seen on Maxlite 4 in the video. And don't tell me I can just carry it normally with the top handle. A moronic change for changes sake by Travelpro.

I have enjoyed watching several of your reviews. In my experience the difference between a good carry-on and a bad carry-on comes down to the quality of the zippers and the quality of the wheels. So I hope you continue to focus on those two features. Also I would like to see you you give the measurements of the bags and how it compares to the airline standard of 22 x 14 x 9 inches. Keep up the good work and I'll keep watching.

I was so excited to order this suitcase today. We live in Anchorage, AK and they were going to charge 93.00 for shipping which is outrageous. I'll keep looking, there are a lot of free shipping options out there.

Very good review for someone considering the MaxLite 5. It's a no-brainer for the current pricing. Some reviews complain that it is prone to tipping toward the front. I didn't see that in your brief test drive. Seems to me that if you park it with the wheels swiveled toward the front that tipping should not be an issue. I'm also a fan of eBags and I have the Slim Professional Junior laptop backpack which I will park on top of the TravelPro by sliding its sleeve over the handle. I might come back to confirm my experience with the stability of this setup.

Hey PaoloFrancesco99! Thank you!!! I agree, great bag/buy at the price point. We've used the bag on multiple trips, both car and air, and the bag has held up well. I can see were, if the bag is "fully" packed, the bag may tip over. Really the same problem a lot of bags may have. It's never been an issue for me. But, as you mention, parking the bag with the wheels swiveled toward the front would help if needed. Nice set up with the eBags! Yes, please let me know how well the setup works. Take care!

PaoloFrancesco99 Did you test the “stacked” setup? Any tipping problems? I use the same backpack (also love eBags) and normally travel with a Travelpro Crew 10 (20”) 2-wheeler, which I ADORE despite how heavy it is. However, recently I’ve been taking more shorter trips and want something smaller and lighter for those trips so am looking at this bag. I really depend on the “stacked” setup when I’m traveling, so I worry about tipping tendencies. Also never been sold on spinners.. I take a lot of public transit when I travel and worrying about my bag rolling down the aisle of a bus or train seems pretty annoying.

@@EvaToad My first real world trip will be in a couple of weeks. I performed a test at home and found that my little parking tip seemed to work fine with the eBags on top. I'll mention a couple of other things for you based on your comment. First, I have experience with another spinner and your concern about keeping it in place during subway train rides or airport bus shuttle rides is legitimate. One needs to hold on or secure it with a foot against something etc. For me the ability to walk a spinner bag in the airport without tilting outweighs this issue. Another point is about the pull handle of the TravelPro. They mention it is rubberized and I was concerned that it would not pass through the ebags pocket intended for the stacking arrangement. This happened with the handle of my other TravelPro which did have a rubber handle. The handle on the Maxlite 5 is actually plastic with a textured surface. It passes through ok and its actually the width of the handle that makes it slightly difficult more than the "rubberized" surface. But it's doable. Fyi, this TravelPro is extremely light and much less robust than my old one, which is built like a tank. The lightness is a big plus and I should not have to check it often so it should not suffer from baggage handlers frequently.

Chris, the expander part concerns me. When you unzip the expander to put in more stuff, then you can't rezip the expander, right? Doesn't that mean that the packables within that bottom rim area are no longer protected by the tough case? Can't anyone or anything just rip that exposed lining? I was all set to buy the Maxlite 5 spinner, but now I'm not so sure. Would appreciate your commenting on this.

Is this the 19 or 22"?

Hi Kathy! This is the "smaller" International version. The official dimensions from Travelpro's website are H: 21.75in W: 15.75in D: 7.75in. To me this bag is closer to other manufacturer's US domestic carry on sized bags. Take care!

Suggest you mention what size packing cubes you use in these type of reviews. With such a small bag any size cube will look large. :-) I always enjoy seeing & hearing reviews and comparisons.

Hi Susie K! Thank you for your feedback and suggestion! I greatly appreciate it! I've actually had that question a few times and have tried recently to be a little more conscious of mentioning the size of the packing cubes because, as you mention, that's important to know when seeing if your stuff would fit in the bag. Thanks again!

Hi, thanks for the review. I just got the same maxlite 5 international. I noticed when I drop the handle down, it rubs against the plastic frame as it goes below the top of the bag. The handle slides right against the plastic frame pushing it out of the way as it continues down past the top of the bag. Is this normal? Does yours do that? I have the 25" as well and it does not do that.
@ChrisU
@ChrisU 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Tim! I've never noticed before, but my bag does what I believe you're describing. I guess I assumed it was "snapping" in place. The top of the handle does slide/rub against the back of the bag right before it slides completely down. I'm thinking it must be normal for the bag. Great catch, thanks!

Hi Leroy! A 13" Macbook Pro fits fine. I have an old 15.6" HP laptop that will not fit. Not any real protection though so I recommend some kind of case/sleeve to protect. Take care!

Hey MAGA MAN! You are right, something I unfortunately tend to forget to list. I’ve found that Travelpro is one brand that is notorious about being “larger” than listed. I’ve had good luck with this bag though and have used it as a carry on for a few flights. Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!
