I was nervous about today's ride after all the rain. The GAP trail is crushed limestone and turns into a big mucky mess in the rain. I put plastic bags around my seat back, the side-seat mount bag, and wore my hoodie to keep mud from being flung off my trailer wheels and getting in my hair. I ended up at a lovely BnB in Confluence, PA escaping a violent storm expected overnight.

This channel is about all things trikes and travel. I have been riding a recumbent trike since 2005 and have been touring since 2007 all over the world. I have toured on 6 continents, in over 20 countries and cycled more than 100,000 miles. In 2020, I shifted from solo trike touring to solo RV travel. After completing a cross country solo trike ride am I now switching back to looking for primo spots and trails to ride my trike.
On this channel I have gear reviews, tips and tutorials but, mostly, I produce short travelogue type videos of my tours and rides as I go. I travel with a DJI Action 3, Insta360 One X2, Skydio 2 drone, DJI Mini Pro 3 and an iphone. Thanks for subscribing and following along!

I want you to know how much I appreciate you and your channel. We have been a long-term cyclist with my wife and family. 30+ years . My wife and I have a road bikes (specialized Roubaix and ruby), gravel bikes (salsa cutthroats), e-gravel bike’s (Kona, libre el) and a custom Rodriguez tandem. I have been fighting stage 4 prostate cancer with metastasis to the bones for the last 2+ years. I can no longer ride an upright diamond frame bike. If I were to fall they say I would have a fracture of the bones and most likely have paralysis. I ordered a recumbent trike and it should arrive today. Even though I can’t do the rides you do, I find it motivating to watch your videos. It motivates me to want to get out and ride the trike and be outside. It puts a smile on my face . I just wanted you to know you were making a difference even in a situation like this. Thank you for your fun, laughter, adventures, etc. any words of encouragement would be appreciated. Thank you again for your content and your fun.

@@TravelsByTrike I am hoping I can have enough improvement that I can get on one of the rides that you’re on in the Pacific Northwest when you’re back this way. I am in Puyallup Washington and would love to be on a ride when you’re in this area or maybe go down to the Portland area.

Cheers and welcome to Confluence, PA. Glad to see things dried out for you along the way. Loved the scenery. The bags made Murtle looks like she has her hair up in rollers … lol

Many years ago, my wife and I with a group of friends took a white water rafting trip down the Youghiogheny River... It was a lot of fun! The waterfalls in today's video were so beautiful. The Bed & Breakfast by the river ... What a perfect location! Keep on Triking!

Yay! Glad to see the comments are working today! Geez, never really thought you'd have trouble with muck thrown up by your trailer wheels... It's kinda funny to see your posts from back in the spring since just about all the other trike content creators have dried up with the Summer heat.

Love catching up with how your big trip went! Question: How do you protect your battery/electrical system from rain/mud etc? I installed a Bafang mid-drive motor on my HPV Gecko and am a bit concerned about riding it in the rain. Thanks in advance!

I don’t do anything to protect during a ride. It’s good to clean the bike and all components after riding in the rain.

How do you plan your long distance trips? I never know what are the best and safest routs to take, especially if I have to travel on roads and not trails. I want to plan a multi day bike trip but I am at a loss of how to plan t his.
