Peter, it occurs to me that if you built a box to cover that bowsprit block, and positioned it in such a way that the box was centered, you could no longer see that the block is not centered. You could build it so that it becomes part of the rope light cover that will illuminate the Hull Identification Number. Decorative and functional. It still won't take away from the fact that the bowsprit is off-center, but at least one problem will be eliminated. Just a thought.
@TravelsWithGeordie14 сағат бұрын
A fun and well though out solution! I think for practicality, I am just going to have to live with it for awhile. Thanks for commenting and for watching! Cheers!

Very few people would have put this amount of effort into the ships head. Most would have shelved it out adding weight to the bow then building a lazy half arsed head compartment in some other space compromising living space and the feel of the boat. Wonderful result in a complex space Peter.

26:30 Just tap the extending bolts a bit till they are parallel. Actually the kink won’t hurt anything.

Yes, very true! But the hole in the block would be aligned with the crooked bolt, so tidier to just slide them back in from were they came.

Some bronze rod and a die would have been under $100 CAD. I couldn't tell if those were 3/8" or 1/2" bolts. The estimate of under $100 CAD was for 1/2".

I cringe every time you pick up a marker. I have seen maker bleed through paint on an exposed steel beam. I have seen it bleed through vinyl wall paper when someone wrote room #'s on drywall, next to door openings. I have read about it bleeding through ceramic tile, when layout numbers were written on the backs for a complex pattern. So, kids, don't try this at home.
@TravelsWithGeordie14 сағат бұрын
Wow that definitely is a consideration! I most always sand off any marker lines. Thanks for the reminder and for watching. Cheers!

Perhaps consider painting the block white the same as the ceiling - it won’t look then that bad, or change the block so the fixings are off centre, but if you sink the fittings and put a bung over them you would not know they are there. Another option is to use ‘rub and buff’ bronze finish to make the bolts look bronze… 👍🛟
@TravelsWithGeordie14 сағат бұрын
Two great options! I think I'll just be content to know that when i rebuild the foredeck, I'll get it right. Cheers and thanks for watching!
