Why didn't I think of that earlier? I have been following your channel for a little while but never thought of going back in time to when your adventure started. But here I am!

I grew up in Seattle. When I was a kid we had a pre-WWII Monk 40' cruiser that my dad bought surplus from the Coast Guard and restored. Our favorite trips were in to BC waters, you are so blessed. Our boat was named Robbie. Registered in the USA. We can no longer locate it, would be nice if you have contacts who might be able to locate it.

I have just stumbled on this and am now hooked. It seems very like its going to be similar to Stu on Dangar Island Australia who is restoring an old boat he renamed Renko. I do love these old classic boats. There is one very similar on the Sandeman's boat website.I look forward to catching up on all these vlogs during the Corvid lockdown.

This is the same boat I lived on when I was in the Navy back in 1977. It belonged to a retired Navy commander. Different boat of course....this one was in Charelston, South Carlolina. One day his son took the boat out during low tide. He ran it I to a mud bank and sucked mud into the heat exchanger. It also needed engine work. Anyway....back in the day I was as strong as an ox. I actually lifted the engine out of the boat and onto the dock. The dock creaked under my feet. I thought I was going to fall through the dock. That would have been very bad.

Travels With Geordie In one episode u mentioned Toritos and I flashed back to my youth. My brother and I did scraping of barnacles inspection of the hull and always found 2 or 3 of them , when dad did his yearly haulout. Interesting, informative ,great drone footage! Cheers

Thanks again Robert. I'm terrified of the little buggers. Apparently we don't have them here but I'm not taking any chances. Drones are such fun. I sold that one but will get another shortly.

Travels With Geordie toritos do like warmer climates .The keel was much like yours and I remember it being their favorite place to burrow into, which was good as the hull was not compromised.

My boat has a worm shoe which I keep an eye on at haul outs. Crossing my fingers I never cross paths with them. As I head south I'll be worrying though.

Thanks Bob, it's a really cool little houseboat, self propelled even! Like a tree house inside. It's gone now, getting rebuilt to live up the coast.

All I can say is "Brother I share your pain". I bought a 1970 Trawler basically sight unseen (yeah I know stupid) but I did see pictures and had the boat surveyed. The survey was good so I bought it not knowing the surveyor was "BAD". Before I even get started with the re-furbishment of the interior and exterior I have to deal with an engine that doesn't work. Seems the #6 cylinder isn't firing. Think it might be stuck or broken valve. Can't really address anything else though because taking the engine out could jepordize any work I do in the interior. I am not mechanical and haven't been able to find a mechanic that wants to work on a 50 year old diesel even though it's the very popular Ford Lehman engine. So for right now I'm at a cross roads. I was hoping to get it in good enough shape to take it down south for the winter and stay in the warmer climate but I can't see that happening now. My boat is a 32' Grand Banks, what is yours again? A Mathews? How many feet long? I'm glad I found your VLOG hopefully I'll learn something that'll help me on my boat. So thanks for making the videos! I look forward to catching up on your progress today and I'll subscribe for future videos! Good luck!

Thanks for the kind words. I hope you can find someone to get your motor running nicely. I've just about completed repowering both boats which you'll all see lots of soon.

Fiberglas on wood, what a extremely sin. I Germany we call this death shirt for a boat. That is what lazy people are doing when they think they waste their money and time when she paint the ship with spar vanish. That is a big mistake.

I don't know what makes people paint or cover up beautiful woodwork. It drives me nuts when people paint or cover beautiful woodwork. That wood looks much better than painted fiberglass. If they wanted a fiberglass boat then BUY a damn fiberglass boat
