I went to the Pera Palace Hotel on Friday August 4, 2023 just for the day with my bestie on an excursion I found through a tour and excuse company. We used the spa facilities, had a hammam and full body massage, had lunch in the restaurant on the patio, went to the Ataturk Museum on the first floor of the hotel and went to the tea time in the hotel and stuffed ourselves with sumptuous pastries and desserts and drank lots of coffee and bottled water while listening to the piano being played

Reminds me when I stayed in the Excelsior Hotel in Rome many years ago, it was incredible with all antiques and carpets and the porcelaine was Ginori and the flatware was silver. We had breakfast on the room's balcony overlooking the city. Sadly it has been 'boutiqued' along with 'Raffles' in Singapour and the Ritz'.

Now I’m thinking….Turkey’s gotta go on my bucket list. I doubt this lovely hotel would fit our budget, but I’m sure they allow the public to visit and see some of their treasures. And the strong connections to Agatha Christie…a British treasure she is for sure. I recently watched the 1979 movie “Agatha,” a fictional account of what happened during the 11 day mystery. It starred Vanessa Redgrave as Agatha and Dustin Hoffman as the incredibly charming and wily journalist, Willie Stanton (who fell in love with Agatha…did she return the amour?) and Timothy Dalton as her estranged husband, Archie Christie. In the movie account, all the “goings on” occurred at a health spa in the Bath, England. But I can certainly see that someone like the famous mystery writer like Agatha Christie would be a regular guest at a such a magnificent and historical hotel like the Pera Palace.
