Well, it seems to me that Israel has created a situation where extremists could thrive. It might have seemed a good idea- to some- to let the Jews create the state of Israel, and in particular in the aftermath of the WW2 holocaust, but clearly it wasn't thought through properly. It seems in hindsight like some crazy attempt at reparation ( BTW, the last time - before the 20th century - that there was anything like a Jewish state in that area was 2000 yrs ago).There's no doubt that the Western world has, largely,-turned a blind eye to the plight of the Palestinians and that has been a dreadful, and very costly -mistake. A mistake that needs rectifying.

Ignorance is such a happy place to live, one can create one's own reality and tell everyone it's truth. History is such a wonderful friend, it brings light to darkness and clarity to confusion.
