A Break On Campsite Is More Stressful Than It Should Be!!

Today After the motorhome trouble we've gone through, Dan decides that all the mechanicals of the van need checking..with having an assistant to take charge of course. Starting with the breaks and no, not a tea break the brake, tyres and engine all needs an expert eye. Can Dan fix this day or is he on his Break?

If it's not your hand brake or calliper, I have a ducato minibus and got white smoke from exhaust occasionally, and it cleared in seconds possible regen. I did mention before you left for Scotland that the glow plug issue could cause soot build up in your dpf. This might cause you to go into limp mode. Glow plugs need replaced and dpf cleaned out, if required before any damage to dpf. Very expensive to replace dpf. All the best, Dave

I'm not sure if you're aware, but on my Ducato bus, the hand brake is on shoes within the brake disc using cables, and the foot brake is on pads using the calliper. Also, my exhaust comes out the side close to the rear wheels. Just a thought. Hope it's resolved soon, Dave

I'm sure JP is gonna slap you one day Dan 😂 Your tyres should have either CP or camper on them but if they are Van or C that's fine too as proper motorhome tyres are designed for sitting and doing nothing for weeks at a time. Pressure wise, I run mine at 63psi even though the plate on the door says 78. If the problem was a dpf regen, it would blow the smoke out of the exhaust so it probably is a binding brake

Hi Dan and Mazzy , my husband Said if smoke was coming from back will most likely be brakes as the smoke would be coming from your exhaust ( which would usually come from drivers side ) if it was the dpf , hope that helps ( he’s a qualified mot mechanic by the way 🤣) xxx

Cheese better than Asda I would definitely guess . We pay 7.00 in M&S for a slab of extra mature cheddar. So not bad. Ah I heard you mention snow . Last time i was up there i had to replace my DPF in pitlochry they only regen so many times they have to be replaced after so long i did get £78 for the old 1 so not all bad
