Hey Guys, I recently visited this old caves, ELLORA CAVES which is located in Maharashtra. It is one of the world heritage site.
There are total 100 caves from which we can visit only 34 magnificent caves.
34 caves are divided into 3 parts, first 1-12 caves are Buddhist caves, 13-29 caves are Hindu caves and at last 30-34 caves are Jain caves.
The 12 Buddhist caves (in the south) date from about 200 BCE to 600 CE, the 17 Hindu temples (in the centre) date from about 500 to 900 CE, and the 5 Jain temples (in the north) date from about 800 to 1000.

Ellora Caves, Ellora also spelled Elura, a series of 34 magnificent rock-cut temples in northwest-central Maharashtra state, western India. They are located near the village of Ellora, 19 miles (30 km) northwest of Aurangabad and 50 miles (80 km) southwest of the Ajanta Caves. Spread over a distance of 1.2 miles (2 km), the temples were cut from basaltic cliffs and have elaborate facades and interior walls. The Ellora complex was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1983.

The Hindu caves are the most dramatic in design, and the Buddhist caves contain the simplest ornamentation. Ellora served as a group of monasteries (viharas) and temples (chaityas); some of the caves include sleeping cells that were carved for itinerant monks.

You have to walk everywhere or you can get a golf cart at the entrance of ellora caves. If you want to go through each and every cave by walking it will take 4-5 hrs. But with golf cart they will cover only the main caves within 2 hrs

I visit these caves in first week of April 2023.caves are marvelous. It requires full one day to visit all, so get some fruits and water with you. There are ponds with natural water spring in caves, but do not know about purety. There is no visit charges for childs. And MSRTC buses charges half to all age ladies in whole maharastra state. Enjoy such facility by tour.

In ellora there are not that many steps to climb. You can easily go with your parents. Just try to go as early as possible to beat the heat.😊

Covering both Ajanta and Ellora caves would take a day each, right? So, where would you suggest the outsiders to stay/accomodate? Also, best season to visit?

Ajanta will take one whole day as it's a little far from Aurangabad, but ellora can be covered in half a day. For accommodation you can select any hotel from booking.com I stayed at Itsy By Treebo - Shivshakti Also there is a zostel as well. The best time to visit is September to January i would say.

Yes sirf kailash temple dekh sakte ho, wo enter karte hi samne hi hai. Baki caves dekhne ke liye aap Electric Golf cart book kar sakte hai uska hardly kuch 50 Rs ke aap aaspass ticket hai, aur wo bhi aapko enter karne ke baad milega.

Take a flight to Aurangabad. From there you can take a rickshaw to the caves.

This plan is prepared for those traveling from Kerala to AJANTA & ELLORA. Travel by Mangala Lakshadweep Express which operates daily from Kerala. Mangala Lakshadweep departs from Ernakulam Junction at 10:30 AM every day. Land at Manmad Junction in Maharashtra. You will reach Maharashtra only on the second day of the journey. The arrival time of Mangala Lakshadweep on Manmad Junction is at 5:30 PM. Travel by Ajanta Express from Manmad Junction to Aurangabad at 8:50 PM. The train reaches Aurangabad railway station only at around 10.40 PM. Therefore, it is advisable to book a room in advance in the vicinity of the railway station for overnight stay. A minimum of two days will be required to complete the Ajanta - Ellora - Devgiri Fort tourist attractions. Ajanta Caves are 100 km from Aurangabad. Therefore, a person who wants to set aside a full day to see Ajanta. Try to start the day of departure to Ajanta as early as possible. Ellora Temple- Devagiri Fort can be completed in one day. 17630 NED PUNE EXP leaves Aurangabad for Manmad Junction at 8:35 for the return journey. This train reaches the junction at 10:40 PM. From there travel to Kerala by Mangala Lakshadweep Express coming from Delhi. Mangala Lakshadweep Express will arrive at MANMAD Junction at around 1:15 a.m. The train will arrive at Ernakulam Junction at 8 a.m on the next day. If you have time, try to visit Bibi ka Maqbara. Bon Voyage
