Love this band so much but is that a soundtrack behind Fran's voice because there is no keyboard/piano and other stuff.

Fran hasn't been able to hit those high notes for years now. As fans, you still got to give him credit for trying (and to still write songs that require those high notes) I guess. He sings the high parts ever so softly now, and if you haven't seen his cover of Brandon Flower's Crossfire yet, I wholeheartedly recommend all Travis fans to see it. Fran strikes the perfect balance there and you really get to witness his vocal strength.

As a fan and fellow musician, I'd be more likely to give him credit for realising he can't reach the notes and writing songs to suit his voice - not the other way around

Yes I agree Fran's voice here is terrible.I think Where You stand is the song that Fran is having difficulty singing in this new album because it has a tricky progression in the melody and a little bit high.Moving he can sing it live especially the high chorus but sometimes he gets a little bit of crack but still maintains it.But this one in all the live Travis performance here in youtube I think he's having difficulty here.But the Amazon performance of Fran is great he's in the mood to sing.
