Really interesting video! When I leave for a tour I spend most of my time with anxiety until I start to play. Fun fact is I don't feel the same when traveling for tourism. This is something I have to work on, but watching your video is kind of helping and inspiring.

Yeah man, I used to feel the same way when I first got started and as soon I found a good group of musicians that were all friends around me I realized I didn't always have to be stressed. Thanks for watching man.

@@TravisDykes yeah I think touring with my current band should be cool. Thanks! Preparation is the key to avoid some stress so I keep working on the set. Relationships with the other band members is pretty good... I must think about that nothing bad is gonna happen.

Great video! Will you also show us how you travel with your bass? It looks like you have it with you at the gate, but then what? DO you buy an extra ticket for it? Does the crew stow it away for you? What kind of case do you have to make sure it's protected? Do you purchase flight insurance for it? Enquiring musicians need to know! 😂👍🏽 Thanks in advance!

Idk if I’ve seen a video of a band touring houses of worship before. I’ve seen plenty of videos from worship bands and church sound engineers, and I’ve seen plenty of vlogs from touring musicians. I just haven’t seen the two together, which is pretty cool. I’m a house sound engineer by trade, in theaters and clubs, so I’ve seen many touring bands come through. It’s just kind of cool to see a church doing the same, you don’t see them having touring acts as often. I think it should be more popular. I think Congregations would love having new touring groups come in and spice it up every few services

Hey love the video question when you fly how do you take your bass on planes I be flying out of state and don't know if I can bring the bass on the the plane with me or you send it through luggage belt can you recommend a case for me?
@TravisDykes3 жыл бұрын
I usually take my bass as a carry-on on the the plane or gate checking it. Because checking your bass is always too much of a gamble to take.

@edwile4733 жыл бұрын
That was really interesting. For a brief tour like this do you travel with your own instruments or do use house instruments?
@mjmason753 жыл бұрын
It depends Ed. You almost always you travel with your own instruments, effects pedals, etc. Any amps and speaker cabinets are typically provided by the live sound company or venue, unless your using an in-ear monitoring system, in which case you would use your own in-ear monitors, which would be connected to the sound company or house system to get your mix. Depending on the show or tour, the drummer may play a house kit or another kit that's not his own, but in most cases they will bring and play their own kit. Usually only larger tours bring their own PA systems to the venue. Most tours typically use the house system and just bring their own sound engineer to run it since he knows the sound and mix the artists/band is going for. as well as the songs so he can ride the faders and make adjustments accordingly during the show. Hope that helps!

Leaning 50 songs in such a short time is quite a task. As a professional, are you able to perform flawless ( ex no wrong note) and if not, how do you fix the mistake.
