The one thing I love about being a musician is how other musicians in the community isn't afraid to share knowledge amongst each other to succeed, this is soooo cool!

Travis - what I absolutely love is you have a shelf...empty...but waiting for that gold KZbin plaque. That is some epic goal setting. I love your stuff and keep it up.

So I’m a bass player. I officially became a full time musician last year. Being musical director at a church, and now playing in an agency band as well as hitting with some local groups when I get the call. The issue I’ve found now is finding out how to expand. When you’re learning music, and preparing stuff for church where do you find the time to work on the craft itself?

Great tips! I would sum them up as being an Entrepreneur. You have to really know your brand, and how it can help fill needs from people who are willing to pay you for your talents. Cheers!

This is dope. Lol it’s like I never find a video on KZbin that shows the exact steps on what you do once you get paid. Is it by creating an LLC? If so, how does that work? Do you pay tax? Do you get paid cash under the table or is it in checks? Cashapp? Venmo? Zelle? PayPal? I think this area is where I’m always stuck at when it’s about making money in music full time. If Anyone tcan lead me in any useful direction

The best advice I ever got from a buddy of mine that made it big in Nashville (plays for Justin Moore and Luke Combs and previously played with Billy Ray Cyrus) was “BE A GOOD HANG”. If you’re not cool to hang out, you might as well move out of Nashville.

Anyone that refers to performing live as a "gig" is not someone anyone should take advice from. I've made my living in this business as a performer for the last 25+ yrs and anytime someone comes in with that mindset, I always let them go within weeks. Small time thinking breeds small time results. I understood early on to learn every aspect of this business and not need to ever be "hired". That information is there for everyone. If you put yourself in a place of being a "hired gun"..that is the most you will ever be.

Honestly I can't wait to leave Colorado. Colorado might be great for marijuana and mental health and outdoor activities but it sucks when it comes to musicians. A couple years ago I tried to collaborate with a musician because he was looking for somebody to sing jazz standards with. He was going to play piano and I would've been the vocalist. Worst experience of my life, he was the biggest jerk ever and he pushed me down the steps because he didn't like how I did the music or what suggestions I wanted to make. I have a real problem with egotistical people. I don't know what's in the water here in Colorado but I don't like the people here.
