Been trying out the drop tai-otoshi with mixed success since seeing it in Danaher's feet to floor series. This insight was on another level! Thanks Travis

Very very god videos. I love breakdowns. I think this kind of judo video is the most interesting now on KZbin. I hope see more like this. Thanks

I find these breakdown videos extremely helpful! Seeing the techniques in a competitive fight gives me so much more than just a demonstrational video. Thank you!

Hello travis what system do you use to break down moves is it a special screen an application?

This may sound counterintuitive, but I think this technique would have worked better if he had an opponent that had slightly stronger defense.

Looks more like ashi garuma then tai otoshi to me

How?

@@grahamchristie7489 because tori's weight was on the back leg and he was away and rotating. the far leg was blocking to create the pivot. - I am no professional though. I was always taught to lean in to taiotoshi. When I learned the concept the kazushi requires the weight on the arm side.- it looks exactly how I would imagine a drop ashi garuma would look but of course the foot is low.

It’s a technique specific for competition Judo. Not for breaking out in a pub fight. Understand? Can’t make it simpler than that.
@jesseshaffer39512 жыл бұрын
@@grahamchristie7489 oh I certainly understand but it doesn't change the fact that the throne mechanics are exactly like ashiguruma if his left leg was standing

In boxing if the fight becomes a brawl the ref stops the bout, even if they are technically punching, they aren’t boxing. When I see “techniques” like this then there should be no wonder why Judo is plagued by injuries and the spectre of 121 deaths between 1983 and 2016. What we just saw was brutality and calling it, or trying to see it in a context of “The Gentle Way” is someone getting high on the gaslighting gas.

Brutality? When there was no blood or injuries? How so?

That shit can't be good for the knees... I can't imagine trying that technique on someone on the street.

Ok… Don’t use a competition specific judo technique requiring mats, in one of your Saturday night, punch ups. Easy.

@@grahamchristie7489 huh? What the fuck does that even mean?!
