April failing is tragic but to be expected. She spent most of her 5th year being chief Resident struggling to keep the others in line while studying and doing her own work. Add on to that of her losing her virginity to her best friend and she definitely was t in the right mental headspace for an emotionally & mentally taxing test

the part that irks me with april is that she believes that jesus would suddenly stop caring about her just because she fell in love and was intimate. I mean she claims jesus is all about love and forgiveness no matter what, why would he suddenly change

they use hotels because they have to have hundreds of private interviews/tests that take several hours per doctor. Where else can you do that for so many in one day than a hotel?

A number of specialties do virtual oral boards now, but there was a time when they were "similar." You need to remember that this show treats surgeons as a sort of super doctor that do the work of pretty much every doctor (and at times the work of nurses and lab technicians) and then factor that in to how this is presented. Renting out a majority of a hotel happens in a lot of industries, though. Las Vegas had 6 million convention visitors in 2023. Conventions and conferences play a large role in hotel business models.
