Great videos. Subscribed. I am very glad you are covering the repair and sealing of your windows. Anyone who has a Trawler with the hand built wood trim windows is always looking at them with a suspicious eye...lol. Tackling them is just labor intensive and fraught with bad surprises (like what you found at the end of your video. I have half tackled one extremely leaky one on my Starboard aft. Its really a temp fix with lots of sealant but its been leak for for over a year. I also have sliding half windows with the shallow metal channels. Even when new I suspect when the wind and rain angle was just right they probably leaked up and over the inside track. And in some conditions still do. I finally decided to make oversized window covers with the Keter track at the top attached under the overhang. The top of the window covers slides into the track. The bottom is held with traditional snaps. The covers extend about 4-5 inches beyond the windows and are made of Sunbrella thoroughly coated with 303 for waterproofing. This is now the "frontline" of waterproofing for the windows. So far it keeps out 99% of all water. During Hurricane Ian was had just a few spots of water on the port side aft window on the inside. But I know I will eventually have to do what you are doing...so I am watching with great interest. Thanks for documenting this. I know from my own videos it takes a conscious effort to film while doing work when all you REALLY want to do is get the work done. Much appreciated.

Hey there! Checked out your channel and subscribed to yours as well. Nice to see someone else making trawler videos! That's one of the reasons we decided to document... lack of material available to help us figure out how to do this thing! We feel like we are figuring a lot out as we go. For better or worse! We really like the idea about the window covers... adding it to the (ever-growing) future project list. It's so important to have those defenses because, really those windows will never be 100% water tight on their own. It's impossible with the design, which it seems you are well aware. On the port side sliding window over the gallery you may need to close the gap between the two panes with a wiper/felt. If you have wind, rain or spray it may get driven in the gap between the panes. On some newer CHBs the fixed pane is forward and on the outside and the sliding pane is on the cabin or inner side. If you get a chance to look at a Grand Banks they have really nice wipers between the panes on the sliding windows.

Yes, thank you! We were trying to find a wiper seal type thing to go in there, just haven't found the right product yet! We will do an update once we get all the details finished.

@@aboardladyhawk You could try asking for ideas on The Trawler Forum. Lots of old salts on there with tons of experience and the forum is a good reference if you are trying to track down a particular part. You guys are making good progress and you are lucky to be working undercover.

On a cold raining day when the windows fog up with heavy condensation do you have some that will block the water from getting between the glass and interior window trim?

Also a very good point... we plan to use sikaflex to seal it where the window meets that trim, but haven't figured out if we will do anything additional besides that. We have a few ideas for improving ventilation which should help with condensation also.

Hi there, I have the identical boat to you here in the UK and am finding it incredibly hard to find the rubber window seals for the brass windows as all mine need replacing , could you p,ease p,ease send me the details where I can send for the complete set

So I ended up just getting some 5/16 neoprene adhesive backed rubber. Then rebedded the glass with black sika flex 295uv.
