adding 80wt (I used 90wt) in the rear shocks and 70wt in the front shocks goes a long way in taming chassis slap. stiffer springs also help when running a large battery pack and/or bigger motor/esc.

@DoRC2 жыл бұрын
The problem is that you now have the suspension so stiff and so topped out that it's not going to be able to properly do its job. You've also significantly increase the center of gravity which is going to make the truck much less stable. Chassis slap is an intended part of the suspension system in in trying to eliminate it you're going to make the handling much much worse.
@WildBoyRC2 жыл бұрын
I totally agree except I now tested it and handling is same it does flip a tad more and still slaps and I haven’t broken a bulkhead which was my main issue, when the tires aren’t super warm and it’s not baking hot it doesn’t flip over I can go full speed and drift it and do 360s on dry it’s actually perfect, I have the 10mm extra offset extensions too to that helps a lot, thing feels the same but better now
@macmccartney57602 жыл бұрын
I would half used heavier shock fluid
@WildBoyRC2 жыл бұрын
@@macmccartney5760 I don’t want it too heavy it will make the handling bad. a have a mix of 70/80 weight in the front and 90wt in the rear
@WildBoyRC2 жыл бұрын
@@macmccartney5760 @Do RC I have the wide MAXX and hub extensions &offset rims. It didn’t make handling worse and didn’t traction roll any worse just made landing on jumps worse since it used up all the suspension so when I landed a bit sideways on 2 tires or in tire it would bottom that out and I broke stub axle. I now switched to metal drive axles but I took those shock lifters off a long time ago.

If you are doing small jumps it may help, but for bigger stuff it's worthless and can bend another shock components... you need to leave some travel on the shocks with the chassis bottoming out because you don't always land on flat surfaces, if you are jumping high you can tune your shocks to have less rebound, but there is no way around the chassis slap, you are breaking bulckheads because the MAXX chassis isn't flat, the bulckheads sit lower than the center of the chassis... there is no distribution of impact, the bulckheads suffer most of it, then they break, plastic can bend, but has its limitations... just trying to criticize constructively
@gonzodetroitify2 жыл бұрын
Hello MvtePixels So if you don’t jump as much as in this show When you build your shocks and have sealed them up Before you put the springs on should the shaft come back out of the shock body-say 30mm on say the Hpi savage flux xl as right now Ive been building them so the shaft doesn’t come out like say the TRAXXAS xmaxx shocks are built with no rebound I ask because as I read your comment it seems as I’ve been doing it backwards and I do not jump like The maxx does here that’s too high Thanks for any advise
@mvtepixels2 жыл бұрын
@@gonzodetroitify The concept of rebound is more relevant for racing in my opinion, for general bashing i think what really matters is oil thickness and the stiffness of the springs, when you go big on jumps and the chassis slaps very hard the tendency is to bounce into the air again, which can make the car roll over, if you have lots of rebound it just intensifies the bounce, because the shocks will catapult the car even higher. Less rebound will make the car more plush and less bouncy, with more or less rebound what matters is having the car setup to get the best performance for your needs
@WildBoyRC2 жыл бұрын

It is pretty stiff, next video will be on handling and jumps, and durability, just a test, it doesn’t chassis slap unless it’s over 8 feet high, I like to do big jumps, but we shall see, I may have to remove the shock collars or the bottom mounts, just experimenting, KZbining it to show people and maybe help others with the issue of the chassis slap, and also my front bulkhead always breaks at least every few battery packs even on small jumps so if this doesn’t work I will get the VITAVON bulkhead.
