Traxxas summit 1/10 motor upgrade

Trying out a new 775 motor for my traxxas summit just want something faster without going brushless . It’s definitely faster but only time will tell on durability. Either way it’s a cheap experiment.

I'd like to build a Summit with an E-Revo LCG chassis and the longer A-arms. Possibly just in the front or maybe just in the rear. The locking diffs and dual battery trays + the inboard shocks, etc. I'd use thinner and taller than normal tires off road for grass. Geared of course. And to raise the lcg chassis. And short fat tires for the street. And I'd use and replace 1st and 2nd gear again and again and. I'd downshift into corners for braking. If only that energy would go back to tue battery. Exit in 1st and flick a switch for 2nd. I'd leave my slipper clutch loose to slam the brakes and not 3 wheel the corner. And loose so it doesn't wheelie shifting into 2nd. And a loose slipper clutch so it doesn't tumble in the air under braking. So much power it wouldn't matter. Impact Hilti, Drywall gun Hilti. Or basic screw gun/drill gun with an actual slip type clutch. I'd like to build that.

I’ve actually thought about that too, a low cog summit would be pretty sweet! The summit really is a very fun truck

I have a broken Hilti frame that I'd like to use the motor and batteries. I have researched and watched, studied and repeat. I know a bit of physics and mechanics and electrical and motors and etc. But talking to someone who already seems to know more would be great. Why Li-Po's and not Li-Ion? My 18 volt Hilti drywall gun runs all day. And the same motor and battery is in the Impact and also in the Drill/Driver (screwgun). The torque could hurt you on the screw gun. The drywall gun hurts your elbow eventually. And now Hilti is using 20v batteries. They call it new but the 20v batteries are backwards compatible in the older tools. I have a broken impact frame and tons of batteries. I want to build a Frankenstein.

Thanks for sharing. You keep saying a motor for a 'Power Wheel'. You mean a child's electric car? I would think if it could power a Power Wheel and child, it should make the Summit Rip. Maybe I'm missing something.. I haven't had an RC in a long time but I watch lots of videos. I enjoyed yours. I miss Jang @ Ultimate RC. I always wanted to build a vehicle from a broken Black & Decker 14.4v cordless tool kit. It's so old, probably Nimh. Now I want to build one with 'Hilti' cordless tool parts. I've got plenty of batteries and a broken impact. I'm in no hurry, I just think it would be cool to do. New Hilti batteries work in older tools (18v or 20v), the motors don't care. 21.6v 2.6Ah 56.2Wh. Hilti tools run all day, day after day. Even though they're Li-Ion and not Li-po, I can't see why that motor and battery couldn't drive a car.

Yes this motor is meant to be an upgrade for a child’s power wheel ride on car , the power wheel is supposed to use 2 motors . This motor is better built and uses bearings instead of bushings . A lot of guys where using a dewalt 14.4 motor because of how durable they were

Do you have specs on that motor and what battery(ies) did you use?

Great video. Thanks. I'm rebuilding my Tamiya TXT-1 with a Summit 2 speed trans. I had dual Titan 21T 550s and dual batteries 4s but now I want a single 775 motor and I was looking at Mabuchi or Johnson equivalents to the Titan 775. I think the motor you showed us will do just fine.

After doing some research it looks like an Andymark.com redline motor for like and after reading the reviews I’m positive it is , to top it off it’s only 20 bucks on there website vs almost double on east coast power up site . Hope this helps

@@KernCountyFoamFlingers Thanks man. I'm not sure if I understand correctly. Is the AndyMark motor is the same as the East Coast Power Up? Your motor from East Coast Power Up has a red sticker on it like the AndyMark motor. I didn't see that red sticker on the East Coast Power Up website. Thanks again.

@@lordhumungous7908 yeah I’m the east coast power up site it doesn’t show the red sleeve like the one that’s on my summit but that what they sent me and on top of that there’s a white sticker on it. I pulled the white sticker partially off in mine and something has been scratched off like maybe an Andymark logo? But get it from andymark im very positive it’s the same motor .

The shaft on your motor was short (stubby) but then why the added washers? Dont the washers make the shaft even shorter?

It allows me to flip the gear and use to use it

Nice clean job! BTW, in this age of brushless systems, why would you go with a brushed motor that adds very little?

more torque from the brushed for the price, if you go and buy a sensor-ed brushless motor system it will cost you around 200$
