I have the exact one, ran it stock for several years with no issues. Recently converted it to the LT version and now use it mainly as a crawler. Love it, I can fit where the 1/10 crawlers go now. It's a new spin on an old truck.

What do you mean with LT version? I'm very interested into buying one and didn't know there are different versions out there.

I started out in this hobby a couple of years ago and was strictly a basher. I bought the Summit for my wife and it is very fun. I just started trail crawling with a TRX4 and that is what the Summit excels in.

Bought the same truck last fall/winter. I know it's old school technology, but it's a legend too. Chose it over a crawler, and after selling my Vaterra Ascender, simply because I don't do courses, mainly just woods/creek walks and it's a beast at that. Come out into a meadow or open space and you can do some mild ripping around too in 2nd gear.

Just rec'd a used one of these yesterday as a gift. It needs a lot of TLC. Let the learning curve begin.

I have a chance to buy a used one, but think I'll just suck it up and buy a new one with new parts.Don't want to replace parts right away except the servo's

I've been looking for a great truck for hiking trails and such when my wife and I want to get some fresh air. The brushless vehicles are great fun, but too fast for what I'm looking for. With the lockable diffs, I think this would fit the bill quite well. Also, winter is coming so that might be very helpful in the snow too. Thanks for the great in-depth video!

I owned a TRX as well as a summit, and as far as going out on hiking trails, the summer is so much fun… Being a larger RC with big wheels it rolls right over most of the obstacles on hiking trails. I found it to be more fun than my TRX for trail rides..

Nice review! I agree...not in my top 10 either, but nice to have in the collection as it's so unusual but lots of Fun!

I loved my summit, got one when they first came out what back in 08 or 2010. i have been thinking about getting another recently. Only problem i ever had was id strip gears on the rear diff when i went brushless, i replaced the small inner bearing with a bronze bushing and the diff cup to a 7075 aluminum one and never had the issue again.

Make sure the servos aren't fighting each other. Straight out of the box they do most of the time.

Could not believe how bad mine were. As soon as I released one screw it wasn't even close. Both arms needed huge adjustment.

Can you use a single servo like an EcoPower WP120T?

Would the drive train fit on an Erevo? Like locking diffs and 1st 2nd gears?
@AJJAMStudios2 жыл бұрын
Since we don’t have an erevo I can’t answer that. But my gut says no. Wish I could be more helpful.

It's about time traxxas made a brushless summit!
@OlmanEg2 жыл бұрын
Problem with that is all the different parts in the differentials. They just can't handle brushless power without a complete change of differential design. It's... it's own neesh type of truck. The brushless version is the Revo 2.0. More or less. The Summit is a spin off of the revo.
@AJJAMStudios2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, and the trx4 too. It is a mix of both.

I never liked Traxxas , but I have bunch of stuff from them. Except summit which I have 2 of, I really do not like anything else from them. I converted one with hobby wing brushless system and the other I kept stock. In my honest opinion noting in rc world compares to summit as far as being jack of all trades within limits.

Im new to this and have heard alot about the trouble between Traxxas and Arrma. I would like to know your stand, and why you still purchase Traxxas? We know your not promoting any product and you are very open on your stand on just telling the truth on these rigs. I think what we like to play with should be transparent and you being the foremost expert we all love, we would like to know where you stand. I sold off all my Traxxas, not only because my local shop dropped their products; but because I think everyone should know the real truth and perhaps how AJJAMStudios thinks about it. I don't watch your reviews on Traxxas rigs, because I and others hate the company. Hate is a bad word, but worse is their inferioriority to Arrma rigs across the board....THOUGHTS????
@AJJAMStudios2 жыл бұрын
You said it yourself...we remain neutral on the subject. As a channel creator Neutral is always best. In our view business is business and we only deal with our chosen hobby and not politics or patent infringement issues that may pop up in the business side of things. For as soon as you pick a side you alienate half of the people that watch your channel. Look at it like this...a person loves Arrma but hates Traxxas, that's okay for them, as we don't judge, but if we pick a side in the discussion, suddenly we are in the fire with the others and that is something we will not do. We are here to explore and enjoy the hobby of RC...only. As far as the cars produced goes, each manufacturer builds rigs that have strengths and weaknesses. There are some brands that are known for high durability, and yet may produce one or two items that simply don't hold up to the hype, regardless of the brand in question. Do I like one over another? Well that's an interesting question as we have offerings from many companies and each has its charms. Does Traxxas suck? That's a matter of opinion, as they do build some exciting cars. What about Arrma, since you picked those two manufacturers? They also build high performance RCs, so I would have to say no to both; keeping the politics out of it. I know this sounds like waffling, but that's how we see things here. I would say this...we will never deprive ourselves of the chance to experience something touted to be new and improved, faster, stronger, or just better than what we have now. The hobby progresses and we want to see where it goes regardless of who builds the toys we enjoy. I thank you for your curiosity and the question. AJ

This is great.. I did some unique upgrades to the Summit, you can see it in my videos!!! Overall, I think is a great crawler with the right wheels, also a speedy basheer with a fast pinion gear ratio...
